I never really thought it was all that great. It's far from shit, but just... It was good, really decent. Bayonetta 1, and it's expansion pack really didn't have much regarding story, and characters. It was just over the top in general, and which really watered it down.

I understand you wanting deep story and characters, but I want engaging gameplay that is more than just clicking on targets. So I play fighting and character action games. Bayonetta is a fantastic character action game with brilliant, engaging gameplay. That is why I like it (also over-the-top is a selling point for me, hence I like stuff like gurren lagann and platinum games)
