No, not from Tumblr. Not all kind words, or fake faces originate there. My words may have been spoken before me, and again many years after me. Either take my words and my hand, or may you fall into the same pit you have been for ages. The choice, as always my friend, is yours.

#65 - Implying that Batman is in anyway not Lawful Good.  [+] (21 new replies) 04/05/2016 on Alignments explained 0

Lawful good = actions that follow the law and good intentions. While his intentions are good, he constantly breaks the law. But he doesn't break the law just for the sake of breaking it, so he would be neutral.
User avatar
#115 - meganinja (04/05/2016) [-]
Law being an intrinsic set of codes, not any external 'laws'.
User avatar
#132 - toosexyforyou (04/05/2016) [-]
Which are? He doesn't have a list of rules, the only "rule" he's given himself is "don't kill." Or Maybe you and Dndxplain have made up an intrinsic set of codes that Batman has for himself?
User avatar
#135 - meganinja (04/05/2016) [-]
And he follows that rule, even when it's very hard to.
User avatar
#133 - dndxplain (04/05/2016) [-]
the intrisic code is "don't kill."

it doesn't necessarily have to be a "set"
User avatar
#134 - toosexyforyou (04/05/2016) [-]
If that were the case, there would be no such thing as chaotic characters because they all have 1 "law" they don't break.
User avatar
#136 - dndxplain (04/05/2016) [-]
except that the mark of a chaotic character is that they are ready and willing to break their morals.
User avatar
#138 - toosexyforyou (04/05/2016) [-]
Well a character who kills for example simply doesn't have "no killing" in his" intrinsic set of codes. But he has made a promise to his dead mother to never eat a single banana for the rest of his life and he lives his life breaking every law he could while never eating a single banana. Is he lawful?
User avatar
#139 - dndxplain (04/05/2016) [-]
if he's starving and he only has a banana, does he eat the banana?
User avatar
#140 - toosexyforyou (04/05/2016) [-]
Nope but he would eat his dead human partner and dog.
User avatar
#141 - dndxplain (04/05/2016) [-]
then yes, your hard core strawman would be lawful.

instead of having a bitch fit, take it up with the people who created the alignment chart.
User avatar
#116 - dndxplain (04/05/2016) [-]
I'm so fucking glad someone finally realized that
User avatar
#117 - meganinja (04/05/2016) [-]
While I've got you here, I have a bit of a question about neutrality.

Aren't there often considered 2 middle neutrals (I think it's neutral neutral and true neutral) with both of them being slightly different? Like one's about balance and nature and one involves just not ever taking a side/giving a fuck?
User avatar
#119 - dndxplain (04/05/2016) [-]
nah son. most people just say true neutral because neutral neutral sounds like the moon moon of alignments. that and I use it to differentiate between the lawful, truth, chaotic and good, neutral, evil.
User avatar
#122 - meganinja (04/05/2016) [-]
I think I read in the rules somewhere that a different neutral applies to animals, but that you could potentially place upon PCs. They were 4.0 rules though I think, so maybe they don't apply at other times.
User avatar
#106 - dndxplain (04/05/2016) [-]
a law, not necessarily what constitutes as legally right.
User avatar
#111 - toosexyforyou (04/05/2016) [-]
He doesn't have his own set of rules, his only "rule" is don't kill. Meanwhile torture, kidnapping, and burglary are A-okay.
User avatar
#112 - dndxplain (04/05/2016) [-]
correct. he still has a core law which it takes great lengths to go against.

Lawful does not mean that someone is a model citizen, or that they are a friggin boyscout. it means that they have, at the heart of every action they do, a core belief that they uphold.
User avatar
#121 - meganinja (04/05/2016) [-]
So would that mean that chaotic doesn't, or if they do they choose not to follow it very frequently?

Would you therefore be able to make a robin hood character where your true belief is to distribute from the wealthy to the impoverished, and as long as you are doing so you would be lawful no matter the actions you're taking along the way?
User avatar
#124 - dndxplain (04/05/2016) [-]
the major difference between lawful/true/chaotic is how willing you are to enter the the state of exception.

it'd take a while for me to explain it in depth, but if you watch the walking dead, the wolves would be within the state of exception, while rick's group simply enters the state of exception when necessary.

a lawful character like batman must be pushed to the very edge to even step foot into the state of exception and take a life, which goes against his laws. A chaotic character accepts the state of exception and thus thrives within it. yes, they have their morals, but their morals are rarely questioned and, inversely to a lawful characters, only will be put into effect when the chaotic character is pushed to the brink.

If you are a lawful character who refuses to eat meat as part of your law, it would take near starvation (or worse) to eat meat, while a chaotic character would not care too much.

Not only that, but the performers are also casted and are told in advance how far they will go in the show.

#134 - thetarget (04/05/2016) [-]
Well, TV is mostly pretty fake. The problem is that most professional performers are crazy busy so they can't really find enough (good ones) to fill out a whole season without promising them at least some exposure.

To continue,
Just like everyone knows that the .44 can't go full auto mods ahoi ,
so why did you find it necessary to mention full-auto, unless you where referring to the rifle perk instead of the pistol perk.
Everyone already knows that the pistol perk applies to the .44, so how was the full-auto relevant?

have the perk that doubles damage if its not fully automatic. I never mentioned that it needed to be full auto. The perk only works if it is not full automatic. I blocked you because your autism is clearly making that concept hard.

~kouzan, on the .44 revolver
User avatar
#112 - kouzan (04/03/2016) [-]
The perk, which is in clear reference to the .44 Magnum is not at full damage. Full damage is 150. Then you factor in the 2x multiplier from the Gunslinger perk. At no point in this little argument we're having imply, nor allude to the Rifle of the Non-automatic perk stacking on top of it because it is not a rifle. Smart people got that.
