That makes sense, also worse than simply killing her...

There's another anime where the Spider Goddess' servant is wounded and asks to take up residence in a kids body. He agrees, and lives in his body for eighteen years and grows stronger. As a symbiotic host, he benefits from it. He by proxy helps the Spider God with her duties.

There's a lot of stories that end like this, not all of them happy. Realistically, you can't prevent something that big just by screaming 'stop', so the small daughter inhabits the body of the girl.

its hard to see the scaling but the river is very thick. so the river is a huge part of why this is good. blow the bridge sure, theres like 50 boats there too. the trees can be cut down in a fasion that would make a barrior between the fallen trees and the still standing ones. its a farm so food, river is most likely fresh water. also im a fan of believeing that the zombies still have to follow laws of physics and biology in that they cant breathe underwater and need to breathe and even if they could they would be swept away. only thing missing is a source of power. and finally country sides have less people. less people mean less zombies because less people to be infected. cities would be pack full of them, a few infected turn to thousands of infected turns to tens of thousands of zombies. vs country side where if a zombie found the one farmer without a gun and bit him, itd take a while for it to walk to the next house and bite him and then in total would only have like 50 zombies in a township depending on its size of course. if they could add a wind or water turbine before the outbreak then id give it a 9/10 in zombie survival.

Zombies don't exist, so how do we know they don't know how to swim?
User avatar

Because dead people are the best swimmers

But they aren't dead. They're UNdead, the opposite of dead.

Wouldn't that just be "alive" then?

Good way to leave yourself stranded and make it harder to bring back supplies.

>zombies, not having to breathe, walk under the water and straight up onto your land

River having a muddy bottom, Zombies get stuck. Regardless if they make it through it'd be one at a time a simple two-three man patrol could take care of that

**centifolia used "*roll picture*"**
**centifolia rolled image**Actually, there's a higher chance that the zombies will get stuck in the mud until their bodies soften too much they are easy pickings if they ever get back on land

i think the idea is that they don't know how to swim, or to move effectively at all. Their inefficient shambling is fine on land where nothing stops them, but they can't wade their way through a current, and will just flail ineffectually as they get flushed downstream like a toilet.

I was thinking Resident Evil zombies
Crazed sprinting, clawing their way through obstacles at a rate no living human could sustain for any extended period of time.

zombies, not having air in circulation, would float less than humans.
zombies, still being made of human, would float pretty damn well.
zombies, floating several feet under water, would be pulled down river by the current.

I'd say you're pretty safe from most of them, the few that wash up onto your island from upriver can be dealt with easily if you maintain proper patrols and prudent safety measures redundant defences, always have redundant defences

Plus, assuming you have appropriate tools and supplies and it's a farm, so tools are a yes, supplies are a probably, and you could make the supplies if you have enough time and effort otherwise you take out a section of the bridge and replace it with a removable section Make it a chokepoint too, so the road thins out to only a few shoulders wide rather than a whole road. Which would also make the crafting of the removable section easier This also covers the excellent point creamymcgee made, you always want a solid, reliable exit point, boats are great as secondary escape measures, but if it's possible and not detrimental, you want something like a bridge. If you have the people, you can place a lookout on the bridge to sight for zoms and survivors, you have two methods for using the removable section, either leave it in place and tie it to your side of the bridge, the lookout can pull it into the water if they see a threat, or you leave it on your side of the bridge and move it into place when needed. The first is more practical for transport, the second is more defensible. Make the choice based on your own situation and priorities

You know have a very solid set of initial defences

You would chop down the trees and use the wood to build a palisade around the island, focus on the side the river flows from and blocking the bridge first
Might manage to get a decent one rather than just a fence, too. Plenty trees in the general area
