In dark souls 2 the rat king is just a king of some rats. It's nothing like this.

Been a while, eh? I trust you're enjoying X and Y and/or the newest season of ponies? I just moved myself. Looking for a part-time job while I attempt to improve and sell my book.

I feel kinda sorry for the people who on principle won't ever try to read Fallout: Equestria. I can by all means understand their hate for the show and fanbase and therefore hate for everything MLP, but it's such a damn good story that it really is too bad they'll never read it.
User avatar
#219 - gabrielcortez (11/26/2013) [-]
It's fan fiction, that's why I don't read it. I don't have time to waste reading something when it won't matter one little bit to the actual lore, I got better things to do (if I ever do feel the urge to read something I'll just brush up on my Fallout lore or read through the Van Buren design documents again). Also, no matter how good the writing is, it is still ponies. I don't 'hate' MLP at all, got nothing against it. It's a show I just don't happen to like. But what I 'do' hate is the bastards that decide to spread that shit like a cancer over to anything and everything that they can and mash genres and series' together which doesn't make any sense being mashed together.
User avatar
#235 - garaichu (11/27/2013) [-]
Dude, if you don't like fanfiction, and you don't like ponies, I can respect that, no problem. But there's no reason to vent your frustration of other mashing ponies with everything you love (which does absolutely jack shit towards whatever it's mixed with btw) on me, that's being childish.

All I did was replying to someone posting something about Fallout Equestria, saying that Fallout Equestria as a damn well written work despite being written with ponies in mind, I didn't once try to force anything on anyone.
User avatar
#238 - gabrielcortez (11/27/2013) [-]
That was hardly me "venting my frustration" and you said in a generalized way "I feel sorry for the people who on principle won't ever try to read Fallout: Equestria" and that includes me so since you "feel sorry" for me I figured I had a reason to respond to 'you' as to 'why' I won't read it. So no, it is not childish, I was merely explaining 2 reasons why I won't read it. Also, I did not imply that you tried to force it on anyone.

You're being too defensive about this, I'm not 'attacking' you.
User avatar
#240 - garaichu (11/27/2013) [-]
The only reason I'm being this defensive is because of your red thumb honestly. It makes it seem like what I said offended you, which I definitively did not mean to do.

Granted "feel sorry" might not have been the best term, what I meant is that it is really good, and people who do not on principle read pony fiction (which is what I really meant by the way, should have been more clear on that, sorry, I hoped that was clear with the other part of my comment) misses out on a good story.
User avatar
#243 - gabrielcortez (11/27/2013) [-]
Well as to the red thumb, it was because of the way you said things, not because you're saying "don't knock it till you try it". So it was red thumb disagreement on the way you said things.

And yes, if someone doesn't mind cross-overs and they do have time to read something then if something is quite acclaimed for its good writing then they would be missing out on it if they decide to condemn it for no reason.

Me however, I don't like crossovers in general. Most of them make little sense and turns me off. And while I don't hate MLP the way it has been spreading across the internet has left a severely bad taste in my mouth so even if I were to try it and did found it to have great writing I would not be able to get over the fact that its a MLP/Fallout crossover.

I think that once MLP's fandom dies down I will stop holding a... Grudge? Towards it and might try this fan fic (if I have time for it considering the amount of things I got to play/watch/read/do) but that'll be years away.

I think my term for "cancerous" is be a bit unwarranted. It's probably from back when the fan fic just got released and there were tons of hype for it around the Fallout forums, to the point where I constantly saw MLP avatars, quotes, references and linked images. Again, left a very bad taste in my mouth for certain fans of the MLP franchise who just can't seem to understand the concept of moderation.

I can understand where you come from. I'm glad we got the misunderstanding under wraps at least.

Sorry if I came on as pushy, I hate when I do that.
As an aside, and so sorry for all the gushing about the story, but I thought I should mention it's less of a crossover and more of a "two hundred years later with Fallout-esque technology and characters, areas and items taken inspiration from Fallout". You won't find any humans running around in Equestria or ponies in the Mojave Desert, so don't worry about that.

I tried. Don't hate the show, I watched the first episode and just wasn't interested. Reading this, though...the worlds just don't mesh. I read the first page of Ch.1, and much like the show, it just didn't work for me. The writing style is decent, but I feel like you would have to be a fan of MLP to see anything other than a story about ponies in this fanfic.
Of course, I tend to dislike fanfiction in general, so I may not be the most reliable critic.

Hey if you even went as far as trying it, I could never fault you for criticizing it. I'm happy you tried at all, you not liking it is a matter of preference. I do appreciate the comment, especially since you weren't an ass about it.

Too bad you didn't like it though, it is one of the best fanfics I have ever read, and one of the best stories in general. But like I said, to each his own, wouldn't wanna push something you don't like onto you.

If that last sentence you wrote could be the personal motto of every member of every fandom, the Internet would be a much better place. Thank you for following it.

You aren't so bad, yourself. Have a cool-ass gif in thanks for being a cool-ass person. Now, alas, I must head off to class, but someday I am sure we will meet again.
