The character designs in the whole series get pretty ridiculous at times. I like some of the features of characters like his nose because it adds a little uniqueness and character to their designs. One Piece is just one of those series that tries to be silly at all times, and I completely get why that turns some people off.

I don't know if you noticed this, but Ussops nose is actually a reference to Pinocchio. Since Ussop is known for being a huge liar it makes sense for his nose to kinda symbolize that.

If so then I'm wrong, sorry. It does make me wonder what perpetuated the stereotype that americans don't know anything about the rest of the world

I think it comes from the fact that some Americans, even people I know, don't really care about the rest of the world or think that we are superior. They act like the typical american stereotype and they are loud. It's a small minority of people that think this way, but one bad apple can ruin the whole bushel.

Well when you are the largest military and economic power on the entire planet, taking up about 1/3 of a continent with your only neighbors being a shithole and a place that's basically a copy of the U.S. that's a bit colder with less people, I think it's easy to realize why many Americans don't know too much about the rest of the world...

Especially when Europeans consider Europe to be the only part of the world worth knowing. Sure you may know that Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic, but you live in Europe, you interact with Europeans, and with the EU you can go almost anywhere you want in Europe easily, so it makes sense to know.

But do you know where to find East Timor? Malawi? The UAE? Uruguay? I'm sure you know about the history of Bavaria, but what about the history of Hokkaido?

That always bothered me as a kid. So little time was spent on Asian... anything... anything I thought I knew about the place came from the anime I used to watch growing up. It seemed like a really interesting aspect of our planet's history yet nobody seemed to put any effort in teaching it.

Well idk if you knew this (I just found it myself a couple days ago) there is a manga dedicated Sinbad's story. How he conquered his first dungeon and the stories of the Sindria Trading Company.
It's awesome

from what I heard was that

1) the animators are playing dragonsquest
2) the writer has serious back issues

It's the comic artist, who's sick, and won't work on the manga. The animators can't do anything, when there's no source material.

I'm caught up on magi. I used to not be too interested in it but after Aladdin kicked Judar's ass i'm starting to get back into it.
Seriously though, that one was of the best moments I've ever read in a manga. It was awesome and tragic at the same time.
Actually there have been a lot of good manga stuff going, between the newest one piece chapter, magi, assassination classroom's craziness, and boku no hero academia

I would say it is better then most other shows out there AND it has more episodes so even if it does leave you hanging, atleast they went much further with it than alot of other shows have.

I have seen too many shows that just stop. either they gave up, ran out of money, gave their attention to another work or fucking died

The anime isn't on hiatus, its actually over. The manga isn't over however and is still going. It just started a new arc that the anime didn't even touch. The anime did a great job wrapping things up, but the manga never wrapped up like that. There hasn't even been a new chapter in about 9 months and it left things out in the middle of some unresolved drama. There probably won't be a real ending anytime soon, if at all.
