I suppose if I'd never met a black person, and only knew about black people from TV and history books, then I'd believe that same crap. Colleges bend over backwards to admit black students who don't have scores that are even remotely competitive, and they're coming from schools where you can get good grades without ever doing any homework. Look up the difference between the average MCAT score for blacks and whites. If they accepted every single white person who took the MCAT into medical school last year (whether they actually applied or not) then their average score would most likely be higher than the average score for blacks (it would be close, and they'd have to accept a low of white people who felt they scored too low to even apply).

The problem is that while a lot of blacks give lip service to education, they don't actually value it. They'll complain if the teachers give their kids homework, they don't make their kids study, they just want them to show up and get a high school degree. In college it's not that simple. When you can barely do basic math, subjects like chemistry become much more difficulty. I've helped quite a few black people who later in life realized education is important. Their math skills are horrible because they went to inner city schools that just passed them (because that's what their parents want), so I'd have to find other ways to explain things to them.

Blaming "educational opportunities" is BS. My high school dropped me from all my classes when I had a long illness. They refused to work with me. So I was basically a high school dropout against my choice. I got a GED, went to a community college, transferred to a university, graduated cum laude, scored in the top 2% on the MCAT, and am now in medical school. I lost about a year and a half of high school due to an illness & a school administration that refused to work with me (a new policy), and I'm not bitching about a lack of educational opportunities. Being a black HS graduate would have made my college career so much easier than being a white student with a GED.

Just take a look you have areas there with people that look so fucking european that it even puts europeans to shame. Why because you have a large portion for exmple exNazi that fled there after the war and settled down. Then you got the "natives" descandents, whose ancestors already lived there for a long time.
And then you got the people that mixed are a mix.
Those are often counted as white from what I know, but truly they are neither, thus the question what to call them.
Matter of fact remains that they are usually not simply white as many of the genes that determine the phenotype of whites are usualy recessive compared to those of the other races.
