My point was that "the rest of the world" as you put it isn't just a "human" world. You've already thrown the animal end of this under a bus. Which means your empathy for them is moot. Essentially you're saying fuck how animals think, I'm a human and I think they shouldn't have to be harmed, and I further want to impose my will over those of animals and their complex systems of social and mental structure. You're trying to throw dominance over others because you feel your Empathy has gained or gleaned you something which others lack, and makes you superior and in as much righteous to over-rule others. This is a slippery slope. As a human, imposing over animals is a single step over imposing over humans. The path further than that is subjugation of your own specie, as you "deserve" the right to tell them what is right or wrong, and what they should then or should not then do. Dangerous path you tread man.

The whole topic of this thread was toward the humane treatment of animals. Not the humane treatment of other humans. We strayed a little for a sociopath/psychopath who felt death was absolute and thus no structure need be compelling enough to be followed in any emotional shielding of harsh realities or pain or torture induced on animal or human alike... something to the tune of "Life is short, so who gives a fuck".

To remove animal and natural situations from this to try and think of animals as needing "humane" ideals to house and keep them before eating or otherwise handling those animals is to insist those animals are Human, by definition that we intend to treat them under an ideal named specifically after human idioms and empathy towards not harming our own specie unduly.


I disagree on the grounds that to treat a creature of nature anything but naturally opens that we are subjugating the animal kingdoms to human ideals. Trying to "make" or "pretend" they hold human thoughts or ideals themselves to abide by. Which in most cases is a falsehood. So to treat animals "humanely" is to insist we need to apply our ideals onto and over their own. This is nothing short of seeking to adopt and adapt them to culture, memes, thought processes, and complex thought that are not common to they or their natural habitat. Nature gives no fucks. Pain and death are both facts of life, though this need not be a reason to disregard any form of preventing pain where one is able. Humanity has tried to rule over itself for millenia, and failed. To incorporate our ideals into animal kingdoms which successfully abide themselves then is absurd. There is no sense to treating a farm animal which is catered to for most of it's existence with further concern. It's life is already unnatural and cultured to be catered to in such a way as to produce unnatural results and unnatural animals. Domesticated Dogs are perhaps histories best lessons of the process gone well, but reptiles of most types are a fine show of it going wrong. As are most predators and natural feral herbivores or omnivores.
