| Agreed, I feel kinda the same, it's far from being the best album ever made for me, but it's a great fucking album, full with insight and feelings I can relate, I think it's a mix of selling out and growing too old, like green day or blink or many other bands from the 90's. I prefer hard rock and metal to any other genere, and they usually sell out instead of growing too old, but still it's a damn shame, like I started listening to metallica around the time the black album came out and I listened to the old stuff and I was in awe kill 'em all is a masterpiece of anger and adrenaline, then you get to black album and after listening to their previous stuff you kinda feel a little sellout, like they made great songs, but they target a broader audience they are trying to sell this album, but the material they used was good so you could accept it (unless you're a die hard fan) but every single album after that one is just a sellout and an insult to what they had produced before. That being said my favourite band is guns and roses and altho I don't believe them to be near the best band in the world (which to me is pink floyd btw) I think appetite for destruction is a masterpiece and could be consider the best album of at least the genere. Dark side of the moon or led zep 4 could be the best albums in all of history. | ||

| Anarchy means no rules too.. Sure, there may be rules. But your choice to not follow them is what causes Anarchy to come alive. Thats the beauty of Anarchy. Everyone has the power to engage in it whenever they want. Countries fall into Anarchy when mass groups of people decide to engage in it at the same time. Usually because the value of the currency is gone, so everyone is mad and will engage in destroying buildings and robbing stores. No society can have anarchy for a long peroid of time. There needs to be stability for growth, anarchy is the opposite of stability. Youre just an animal feeding off prey you find in the wild. Thats anarchy. #32 -
kingpongthedon (07/11/2015) [-] That's a very bad approximation of anarchist philosophy. It's roots lie in the illegitimacy of government authority, you see it in Bakunin a century ago, you see it in Chomsky today. It's saying that no group of people has the authority to dictate the rules to the people. Most anarchist philosophies not developed by teenage edgelords believe that societies will naturally self-regulate, i.e. develop rules and regulations as a matter of course How this is different from government, I have no idea . If and how these rules are enforced varies from group to group, but the ones saying "No rules" have zero understanding of the philosophy behind the movement.

kingpongthedon (07/12/2015) [-] No, Franco started it but the anarchists weren't exactly trying to make peace either. #211 -
magnonymous (07/12/2015) [-] Yeah, I know that it's just the way you wrote it made it seem like you were accusing the anarchists, it's clear that neither of both sides wanted peace, for example, the republican side killing priests.

internetnick (06/27/2015) [-] That's ridiculous. He fulfilled the Old Testament. He didn't completely invalidate it. Also, moving passed the old testament would imply that it was ever considered ok. Don't take it literally, but God wrote it. #189 -
kingpongthedon (06/27/2015) [-] The Catholic Church never said that the Old Testament was written by God, but that it was divinely inspired, same with the New Testament. The stories may or may not be true, but their point is to convey a message about God not pass down historical information with the exception of a few books that are explicitly histories of the Jewish people . There are a number of factual inconsistencies among the Gospels, four books meant to tell the same story, but that doesn't diminish the message that they are meant to communicate. This was the stance of Judaism long before Christianity came into existence and was the Catholic Church's stance from the get-go. Point is, whether we're talking Jonah and the Whale or the Parable of the Fisherman, what's important isn't the story itself but the message it conveys. Again, it was the dogma of the Old Testament that was taken as true, but not necessarily the stories themselves. #192 -

| Not at all - it took years of training from childhood to develop the strong back muscles and to be able to fire without thinking about aiming (as you wouldn't be able to hold the bow at full draw for anything more than a second or so). The reason only England deployed them on mass is that a craze amongst the peasantry caught on with the longbow. Everywhere else the crossbow was used as you could train people to use it effectively in a few days, but crossbowman suffered greatly when pitted against longbowman, as in the time it took to cock or wind back the quarrel, aim then fire, a longbowman could release anywhere between 4 to 10 arrows (depending on crossbow mechanism). It...kind of did require practice, in fact - it did. War bows require a more than average strength to operate properly, which is why the "average serf" couldn't "just do it." You do train archers, don't see where you got the idea you don't need to. #37 -
anon (06/25/2015) [-] uh..... English long bow has around 90-100lb draw weight... Thats fucking heavy as fuck. You can't just hand that over to some random person and expect them to fire it correctly. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_longbow
