i just talk to people and eventually you find someone who is right for you its not like there's some compass you didn't receive at birth that points you towards "true love" you just gotta get out and meet people.

I understand your confusion. It's actually a conjunction. "Congratulations" Becomes "Congrat's"- Like "Do not" becomes "Don't", "Are not" becomes "Aren't", and so forth.

Aren't and Don't are contractions, not conjunctions
Congrats is an abbreviation, not a contraction, since it's just shortening a single word, and does not need the apostraphe.
Conjunctions connect words in sentences (for, and, but, or)

You are 100% right, whoops. Don't drink and grammar, kids. English uses apostrophes to denote missing letters (like the "o" in do not) though so that's why it's technically correct, but I'm pretty sure most people don't use it.

It can be used both ways; at least that's what I was taught in school.

Does that work though? You're not conjoining 2 words. You're shortening 1 and adding an apostrophe. I always thought congrats was used to save space. I'm a Chemist not a linguist. I have no idea.

you walk in with no money and walk out with money because you had money in the bank.
