If there was job stability in having an art degree, I would pursue it too, but there's is damn near none right now. That's why I see anyone who's left pursuing it now, completely in-cased in their own self absorption. I just imagine them as having a serious case of main character syndrome.

not in the video game industry. I just had a friend get hired before he even finished his degree. and anther friend working on the new COD game right outa college. YOu just need a good work ethic.

Still a huge fucking gamble looking for decent sized company that would want you as a dev and even more so if you join a company that's trying to get off the ground. Exceedingly more so if your going to like Full Sail Uni or some other shit cash grab.

Your point is valid but im a hard worker and love doing what i do. So even if i make shit for money, ill still be happy. I had this discussion with my family because i was also thinking of becoming an engineer for the air force, but my mom was really supportive with allowing me to do what truly made me happy.

Oh man I know right? how dare he try to do what he loves for a living.

And anyways, people go to art school not for the degree, but for the connections and the working environment. Having a degree in arts isn't going to get you anywhere, but having connections and a good portfolio will, and art school offers both of them.
