I use hermetic as in a hermetic seal, something that is airtight, basically meaning that I'd be damn hard to try to intrude in one of those groups

but cant you talk to a girl at school/work? you don't have to meet a girl at a bar or something you know. unless its even more inappropriate to flirt in those places than it is to intrude some group.

I'm a computer engineer, there are no girls in my classes, (well, technically there are two, both lesbians) and in my internship everyone is about 10+ years older than me so I'm kinda fucked (not literally, of course)

it can be pretty fun if you like computers, but let me give you some insight, once you're done with your studies you'll either end up programming (aka maintaining someone else's code and screaming internally because they didn't comment it) or on consulting (aka screaming internally because all you do is paperwork and documentation), or at least that's what I've been told.

I like it because I love logic puzzles, and I treat my programming as such, it's so satisfying to finish a working piece of code that does exactly what you wanted it to do (after all the fixing, because you're never gonna get a perfect code on the first try)

thats pretty neat. did you program way before you started your study btw? or did you pick it up during your study

I hadn't programmed a single line of code before I started (well except a couple of batch files to fuck around with my high school's computers), so yes, I basically picked it up during my studies, they taught us Java (aka babby's first programming language), then some C and C++, during my internship I've learned C#, JS and VB, it's not hard to learn new programming languages when you get the basics down, in other words, once you learn how to program, you just do, the language is (almost) irrelevant.

i know it sounds like a shitty question but is there a lot of money to be made from it? do you have a lot of options? and is there an actual demand to computer engineers

demand? I'd say there's a fair amount, just wake up tomorrow morning and count the number of computers you interact with (smartphone? computer, ATM? computer, ticket machine at the metro? yeah, that's a computer too)
whether you can make a lot of money out of it or not... well, it depends on what you specialize in and where you end up working, it's not a sure bet like dentistry
