sure money doesn't mean everything, but you can still build a mid-range PC for the price of a console, it might not be mid-range for 8 years but you get the option to upgrade it constantly, and when its time to make a big upgrade the computer, you can keep the last hardware you put in there, while with console you are stuck with the same hardware, and in 8 years you need to buy everything from scratch.
so a gaming PC is still a better investment in the long term, which costs the same in the short term.

All very valid points. But like I said, some people just like what they like, and I personally find PC gaming more fun for single player games like skyrim and the like, but all of my friends use consoles, and I'd miss out having that fun with them. if I didn't have one.
But my initial point still stands, I don't think i'll ever understand why so many PC gamers seem to hold so much hostility and venom at people who enjoy consoles, its like two people arguing over two different shades of blue.

well, there are several reasons:
1)consoles hold the quality of games back, since they have weaker hardware game developers build for that 7/8 of the years outdated hardware, thus halting their progress.
2) some companies like ubisoft do shitty ports for games, which makes those games more demanding from the hardware, even though the games themselves are being developed on PC's, so the necessary requirements should be lower.
3) releasing a game to a console requires tribute from the developer which increases the games price, making the whole gaming market more expensive.
4)the whole notion of "exclusive" games
User avatar #168 - killkingdarkblade (01/15/2015) [-]
Exclusives in any form get on my nerves way more than they should.
I was under the impression that all ubisoft games were shit, port or not.
Thanks to engines like Steam, and Origin(ugh) games on PC are almost always getting discounts and deals that people on consoles just never have, so thats a plus.
And as for quality of product, thats true and not true at the same time, compare the first xbox era with halo 1 and just a few years later with halo 2, the difference was staggering. If someones main concern over a game is graphics over gameplay though, than I think some revaluation is in order.
User avatar #172 - mrmask (01/15/2015) [-]
ubisoft didn't always make shitty games, FC3 was great, and some of their older games were also, but thats besides the point, even if the game is 7/10 and it's from a franchise I like, I would like to play it.
sure steam gets you discounts, but you have to wait quite a while before its a reasonable price, it would be much better if the reasonable price was the original one.
usually, first games in something that is supposed to be a franchise are an experiment to see if the idea works, and if it does, the second one is going to have a lot more investment put into it, take for example AC1 that had repetitive missions and AC2, (I also think this is the case with watchdogs).
and besides that, better technology for decreasing hardware demands is being developed constantly, that is why new console games still have some improvement in them, but it would be much better for everyone if the technology wasn't held back.

You've got a point with the older games. I also agree digital copies of games should always be cheaper, its not fair to charge full price for that. While nowadays I think tech is advancing faster than anyone can really catch up, there's eventually going to be a balancing point where no ones gonna have to fret over MUH QUALITY. I just hope in the future people can over look a rather simplistic grass is greener mentality and just enjoy things together for a change.
Well it's getting late where I am so I'm heading to bed. It was nice talking with someone who keeps a level head for a change. Good on ya man, hope you enjoy your games, whether they're on a PC, Wii, Xbox, or whatever they come up with in the future.

As a bonus, I offer you this amalgamation of pure distilled autism.

also, most PC gamers that I see do keep a leveled head when they actually are asked to explain why they hate consoles, and don't have to deal with autistic kids/retarded adults that think a console is on the same level of a high end PC.

because people that have a gaming PC usually put much more money, care and time into choosing hardware and putting them together into a gaming PC, so that means they are more dedicated into gaming and don't want to be put on the same levels as those that are not as much
User avatar #148 - killkingdarkblade (01/15/2015) [-]
That I can understand but money spent doesn't equal total dedication, I will always admit that a PC is going to be the cutting edge in gaming tech because technology never sleeps, but as the years roll by, games get better and bigger. Which require better specs out of a PC, as with a console, you buy it and you're set for the next 8 years without needing to worry if you've gotten enough RAM or if your graphics cards gonna hold up the way you want it to, some people just can't afford that and I personally think it's wrong to step on people for that reason because Person A can afford PC upgrades while Person B can't.

tl;dr Money put in doesn't always mean everything, so just be courteous of those who enjoy what they can.

Because I'm fucking sick of game developers focusing primarily on consoles, claiming that they're just as powerful as a mid range PC, only for PC gamers to be left with some shitty unoptimised game. I'd be perfectly fine with consoles if they didn't hold the PC back so much
