Squids actually do have a long tongue like structure known as a radula, its used for a variety of purposes, for females it helps them drag prey into their beak, for males it does the same but also assists in injecting sperm packets into females, sometimes that radula is torn off in the process. (But it grows back) Its not dissimilar to a male octopus filling its arm with sperm and tearing it off and giving it to the female. The Radula is quite large in comparison to the squid's beak, so this would be an accurate interpretation if they were more humanoid.
