nicminator (01/15/2013) [-] I don't know what you mean when you say they have less air in them? Less air than what? Yes they do run a low tire pressure in rear tyres in drag, because it gives maximum hook and better traction off the line.. #9

N. Korean citizen (01/15/2013) [-] that's actually not true. "There's a common misconception regarding low tire pressure. I'm sure the root of this comes from street racers attempting to make their DOT tires more like slicks. But when it comes to getting the quickest E.T., more tire pressure is better" #11

nicminator (01/16/2013) [-] False - A correct drag setup has lower tire pressure in the rear tyres because it give more contact surface between the ground and the tyre hence more grip and a better launch.. This combined with the insane power of a drag car causes crazy tyre deformation.. Compare it it Formula one for example; They don't run a low tyre pressure on the rear and when they get a good grip in the tarmac they will spin the rim inside the tyre instead of the tyre spinning on the road.. They don't do tyre deformation like a drag car (because it has low tyre pressure) .. #12

nicminator (01/16/2013) [-] Correction in last sentence: They (a formula one car) don't do tyre deformation like a drag car (because it - A DRAG CAR - has low tyre pressure on the rear.. Makes a bit more sence than what i wrote before :)
| #1 - That's also because they don't have a lot of air in them. [+] (10 new replies) | 01/15/2013 on Tire deformation | -4 |

LSone (01/09/2013) [-] Well to be honest i am a nascar fan BUT i think Infineon and the Glen are two of the best tracks on the circuit. And i always watch when Busch goes to Road America and Montreal. I will be going to the first race at Mid-Ohio for Busch. I think that is one of the best tracks but its kind of that home track thing. I have been into drag racing and i love Muscle. Just the craftsmanship of the golden era of cars amazes me. And nothing beats a Big block, well until you turn lol. But i have wanted to due rallycross. Not that parking lot stuff. Thats nice if you like it but i would rather something a bit more fun and forgiving. My dream cars right now are a Holden HSV, 65 Pontiac GTO, and a ZL1. A R34 would be nice but illegal here like the holden... and if i had to get a forneign car it would be a M3 E46 or any 90s Honda NSX
