It's not really dangerous except for anything the shark's flailing body and tail could do to you. Otherwise, the form of it's head and the position of it's mouth make it so it couldn't really bite you.

HH sharks are very rarely aggressive to humans.

You are right though. I'm sure the shark was scared also so he might have panic bit one of them. I'm really glad they let it go though.
