Obsessions- an intrusive, repetitive, anxiety inducing thought
Compulsions- the act following the obsession. The compulsion is the only thing that can diminish the effect of the obsession. Though the compulsion stops the obsession, it is also a part of the problem. (derp)

Onset of the illness is usually in late adolescence

OCD is more severe in Children.
This is partly because children don't understand that what they are doing/ thinking is irrational.

I took time to type all of this out b/c the societal stigma of mental illness is overwhelming negative to the point that much of our culture has turned our backs on many of these sick people. It's as if our attitude has succumbed to ignoring the people who have mental illnesses altogether. 1 in 4 people will develop a mental illness at some point in their lives, and because of the stigma associated with mental illness 50% of people who seek help through method of therapy/counseling will drop out after the first session.

But seriously fuck this bitch that claims to have OCD. Stupid ass, Ratchet ass, bitch ass tumblrite. Unless, of course, she turns out to have OCD, and if that's the case then best wishes! Hope the therapy room does what it is designed to. The field of Psychology still has a ways to go, but I think it's time that the wider community showed a little bit more compassion to those who do suffer from something as horrific as severe OCD.

Todays youth calls being neat, tidy, or a control freak OCD. the reality is, OCD is a serious mental condition that has a wide range of symptoms. Repeating simple actions multiple times. Obsessive hand washing. Basically any obsessive, uncontrollable, need to do certain things a certain way at certain times. Being a neat freak can be OCD, if you are completely unable to stop yourself from cleaning without having a mental breakdown. But usually it's not.
