You can't just focus on evidence that makes your arguement right. You have to look at ALL the evidence. Take a look at Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and Pol pot then you will see that gun control usually precedes mass killings. However, what you stated is also true so what does that mean? It means the issue is not gun control at all. Also "gun control" is a misnomer, when you say gun control you really mean centralization of weapons into the state.

creationism and evolution aren't necessarily separate. many Christians believe in "guided evolution," which is fine with me.
#267 - kerplunking (12/29/2012) [-]
Creationism is a literal belief in the story of genesis.

Theistic evolution is different as it at least admits that the world wasn't created as it is in 6 days.

implying all creationists are stupid. thats one of the most ignorant things i have ever heard
User avatar #170 - rainbowrush (12/29/2012) [-]
I have yet to meet one single person that doesn't believe in evolution and isn't completely brain dead. This has nothing to do with a belief in God or anything like that. As of now, we have more proof of evolution than we have of gravity. There is a reason why most of the world thinks so low of Americans.
User avatar #281 - supermegasherman (12/31/2012) [-]
so Galileo was stupid? pope sylvester was stupid? roger bacon was stupid? john wallis was stupid (you know, for helping develop calculus)?
User avatar #283 - supermegasherman (12/31/2012) [-]
Whitemager: "but why stupidity?"
Rainbowrush: "Most likely because over 40% of your country's population believe in creationism."

you cannot tell me that your quote does not say that anyone who believes in creationism is stupid. partly because it is so blatantly wrong, but also because there is no proof to it, its a totally condescending, self rightous statement
User avatar #284 - rainbowrush (12/31/2012) [-]
I usually try to take a neutral party in stuff like this. I was merely explaining why so many people think so low of Americans.
User avatar #289 - supermegasherman (01/03/2013) [-]
that wasn't neutral at all. a neutral statement would have been: "though most Christians/creationists are perfectly normal, knowledgeable people, there are some that view the world in a very close minded way; since people as a whole tend to pick out the flaws in a group, these close minded people stick out and are then used as the representatives of that group, similar to the judgement of Muslims in the middle east.

THAT is objective. what you said was that every creationist that ever existed was a brain-dead moron that have never contributed anything tpo society. which is untrue
User avatar #290 - rainbowrush (01/03/2013) [-]
Being political correct is stupid. If you pay attention, you will see how I portray the generic opinion and view, whilst not sharing it. The devil is the details.

You chose to focus on what I said I had experienced, and nothing more. That's a little rude, don't you think?
User avatar #291 - supermegasherman (01/03/2013) [-]
what exactly about "[The united states is stupid,] Most likely because over 40% of your country's population believe in creationism." is personal experience? that says that every creationist is stupid. THAT'S a bit rude, don't you think?
User avatar #292 - rainbowrush (01/03/2013) [-]
You know how people's filters decide how you will word your thoughts and how you interpret what other people say? You're changing the message too much right now.

Most people experiences that people who do not believe in evolution is usually stupid. I added what I have seen to back up this statement. This whole thread was about why people think so low of Americans. It being true is a completely different story.
Ask yourself this: What does the rest of the world see when they look at America?
User avatar #293 - supermegasherman (01/03/2013) [-]
don't avoid the question. nothing about what you said was personal experience. that was the (untrue) stereotype that the the rest of the world blindly accepts as absolute and undeniable truth. go out and find Christians, talk to them, if you show a genuine interest in their beliefs and aren't a dick, 99% of them will treat you exactly the same way.

most people don't get that
User avatar #294 - rainbowrush (01/03/2013) [-]
I know a lot of Christians, none of them believes that the earth was created 5000 thousand years ago. I have no idea what you are talking about.
User avatar #295 - rainbowrush (01/03/2013) [-]
derp
User avatar #296 - supermegasherman (01/03/2013) [-]
uh, irrelevant much? don't change the subject
User avatar #297 - rainbowrush (01/03/2013) [-]
That couldn't be more relevant. You are changing creationists to Christians. I think you have no idea of what you are saying, as well.
User avatar #298 - supermegasherman (01/03/2013) [-]
creationism is not a religion, christianity is, the vast majority of christians believe in creationism, ergo, by blindly insulting all creationists, you insult christians as well.
User avatar #300 - supermegasherman (01/04/2013) [-]
bill nye is the least objective source you could possibly find.

besides. that oversimplifies everything. "because you are creationist obviously means you deny evolution"

again you change the subject. this is not about whether creationism or evolution is correct. not all creationists are stupid. and adding a footnote onto it about personal experience changes nothing. what you said is there, clear as day "the united states is stupid because 40% of the population believe in creationism

Galileo is automatically stupid according to your "all creationists are stupid" world view
User avatar #299 - rainbowrush (01/03/2013) [-]
Jesus' crust. You haven't been listening to anything I said, have you?

I go to a Jesuit school in Arizona and many of my teachers do not believe in the theory of evolution, but in the creation story presented in the Book of Genesis. Many of my teachers studied at Notre Dame, or Duke, or Yale, and are certainly not brain dead. Perhaps you believe that the only people who trust in the creation story are like those from Westboro, and if that is so than you are truly narrow-minded in your understanding of religion and creation. I for one, do support the theory of evolution, but I will not say that all creationist are brain dead.
User avatar #215 - rainbowrush (12/29/2012) [-]
I am talking from experience. I'm sure not everyone are like that.

Yes, all creationists are stupid. That's a fact. Creationism is as moronic as geocentrism.
