I have a friend in D5. He says it's scary and went there was a huge change from plat to diamond that he didn't quite get at first.

Yeah bud! the best thing you can do is play around with all the Gp builds. Like Crit plank, Bruiser Plank and Tank plank. All three are very viable and are decided upon in champ select.

Team needs a tank? Tank Plank
>Start Q but Max Heal first ( 50 Mana at all ranks but gives stupid bonus hp when leveld)
With this ability and your tank build you will win any trade in lane and be damn near ungankable if you orange after the cc occurs.
Try and Trade dmg every single time you have heal off cooldown and your mana allows. Also a fun tip is to bait the enemy laner by holding heal to last second to make them think they can kill you.
>Rush either Iceborn Guantlent or Spirit Visage depending on the enemy laner
>then get Merc Treads or Ninja Tabi based on enemy Teams Primary Dmg Source
>Finally Fill in your build with items such as Sunfire Cape, Banshees Veil, Randuins or even a Hydra/ Trinity for some dmg

Your Team Has 1 Main Tank? Go Bruiser Plank ( My Fav)
>Start q Max Heal.
>Rush Sheen/Tiamat depending on enemy laner. (Sheen works best vs melees while tiamat is good when you have to shove them to tower or want to pake a ranged top laner like ryze or lissandra)
>In this build i still get Merc or Ninja Tabi
> Turn your Sheen to Iceborn Guantlet or your Tiamat into a hydra, after you upgrade one of the two dmg items Get a Spirit Visage or a Randuins depending on the enemy team.
> Lastly i like to fit a Botrk in this build after 1 defensive item because having Iceborn + Randuins + Blade + oranges makes it impossible for an adc to kite you.

Finally is Crit Plank ( The most Fun build but most Risky)
Pick this When you want to hard carry and your confident in your ability to rofl stomp, or if your team already has 2 tanks.
>Crit Plank maxes his q in order to gain gold very fast. (use your q as often as possible to farm)
>Plan on backing and buying an Avrice Blade first back (got to horde that gold)
> From there, i rush Infinity Edge, CDR Boots, Static Shyv, Hydra, BloodThirster, and 1 more dmg item like ghostblade or black cleaver.
>Laning with this build is difficult as you basically do nothing but CS until you get dmg and crit chance. Then fire some q's at the laner until you get a lucky crit and think you could win the 1v1.
> Late game your only goal is to 1 shot one of the enemy carries. This can be done in 1-2 q's but is risky as you have to get close.

Other Tips: Gp has the highest base health in the game and has bruns on his auto attacks. With this in mine there is almost no champion who can 1v1 you lvl 1. Simply walk at the enemy and Auto them then q then auto them to apply all 3 stacks of your passive. With that dmg you can kill rivens lvl 1. The only champ that might beat you is xin zhao and possibly lee sin lvl 1.

In most match ups i start flask, 2 mana pots, 2 health pots (wait in base for the 2nd pot). My only other start is Dorans shield which i only buy when im going to face early aggressive Auto Attack Champions. (Riven, Xin, Lee,Wukong,Jarvan)
If you start dorans sheild look to all in lvl 1 as it should be damn near impossible for you to lose even if your running tp and they have ignite. That is... as long as you dont eat 300 minion dmg.

The last tip i have is the use of your ultimate. In each build it serves a different purpose.
Tank Plank ( use your ult bot lane and tp behind the enemy. this allows for easy double kills because they cant run)
Bruiser Plank ( ult your enemy laner and all in him, they are forced to run or die to your aoe and burns as you simply heal there dmg back)
Crit Plank( i find myself ulting my lane for cs if im in base and my tp is on cooldown. also feel free to take cs from teamates who are in base and losing a wave to tower)

For Summoners i always run Flash Teleport but ignite is viable especially in low elo

If you get counter picked just go tank/bruiser and farm for mid game teamfights

Yea the biggest obstacle for me was getting over my massive god complex and admitting that sometimes, the reason we lost the game was because of myself. Once I could critique myself, I was boosted in rank significantly.

I try to do this every game. Even if im not the sole reason for the loss if i made any mistake at all i like to look back and think about better choices.

I'm hoping that as I get higher, I meet more people dedicated to the game rather than themselves. Less people being carried by that Diamond III smurf. And an increase in skill where running into a diamond smurf isn't gg.

Yeah you definitely will, im only D5 but what i see in games is pretty sweet. Players stop yelling at each other and saying this like "gg this nid" and instead would say some thing more like " Nid... if you healed for the as buff you could of kited him with red buff and cougar form jumps" its still bming teammates but they actually teach you so at least you learn from it lol.
