I felt like that during High school and I pissed my senior year (personal problems but I still graduated) and the day of graduation I came to realize....yeah they were all dumb, stupid hillbilly redneck town haha.

Of course, part of maturity is accepting that you too, are an idiot.

But more importantly, many of those people probably had pondered life as much and had as many experiences, but they had come at it from a different place, and had different experiences than you, and so they arrived at a different conclusion. That's usually the explanation for other people seeming "stupid" or immature; differences in worldview. It's the main reason politics often devolves into arguments about how stupid the other side is.
