I mean I'm not a doctor yet either, but I am studying for it, and we are currently learning about mental health.

The issue about just going "Its not real, its a brain disease" when speaking about transsexual patients, is that it trivializes there experiences in a way, that adds stigma to a patient. Saying it isn't real just makes it seem, to the person, that their experiences mean nothing, and that therefore nothing can help them, and can sometimes choose to end their own life.
It more just boils down to them saying its not real, rather than the Brain Disease part, cause I mean, its both mostly.

The issue about just going "Its not real, its a brain disease" when speaking about Schizophrenic patients, is that it trivializes there experiences in a way, that adds stigma to a patient. Saying it isn't real just makes it seem, to the person, that their experiences mean nothing, and that therefore nothing can help them, and can sometimes choose to end their own life.

One different word and a different delusional brain disease and suddenly this entire argument is wrong. Funny how that works.

So why aren't we being forced to play along with whatever schizo's are seeing instead of treating them? Oh right because it's fucking retarded to try and alter the sane world for an incredibly small amount of DELUSIONAL people. They can enter reality with the rest of us or stay in la-la land where everything is as they say.

Yeah I was also baffled by all the weirdos in the comment section saying "yeah its just a mental disorder" as though mental disorder are similar to ghosts, i.e not real

How on earth does saying its a mental disorder make it not real?

Thats like saying a doctor calling you obese/overweight is a slur, its just describing what it is.

Wouldn't work. First off, because it's totally impractical to do so and there would still be workarounds. Second, because internet anonymity is why individual people are assholes, but mob mentality is why groups of people are assholes. You still get mob mentality assholery on Facebook where pretty much everybody is linked to their actual name. Third, because internet anonymity is also what protects people and makes the internet such a great platform for free speech in the first place.

Yeah, and thats why being able to talk about this shit is important. Claiming its just a brain disease and not real stifles it and creates more stigma around it, the exact opposite of what people want.

saying something is a brain disease means its not real?
i'm no doctor and i have no clue, but the argument in itself doesnt really hit anything for me.
"he's got depression" - "hey, he's got serious issues! dont stifle and marginalise his condition by just diagnosing it and treating it like its some sickness!"

sorry, i dont understand the logic behind that.
