It's generally only 3D and .NET apps that won't run correctly, but it's otherwise actually pretty good.

Funny thing a while ago on my laptop, I had no internet as I was away from home, and a windows copy of VLC on my windows partition (this is a shit laptop BTW).
It actually runs better through WINE than it does on windows. ie. playing 720p video, which windows cannot handle.
