 They use the most basic strategy of fighters in front, casters in back, but I've only had one player that's taken cover and he just joined last session and there's no flanking or strategic targeting. The rest of the group has had 7 in this campaign and more in the previous one which I fucked up royally, because I'm not at all used to a game that puts so much of an emphasis on gear as DnD and gave them too much money . The closest thing they've gotten to actual combat strategy is the druid casting ensnare, but that only last so long and the reflex save is low enough that it's dropping in effectiveness rapidly. This wouldn't be a problem normally, but the issue arises when they aren't even thinking of ways to improve their tactics or compensate for the fact that their most effective strategy is rapidly losing power. They're probably gonna get a TPK. Which is fine by me, I have plans for that sort of thing. | ||

| It's not as big of an issue when I'm DM because I can work around their bullshit without breaking immersion, though it can be a bit of an issue when they ignore rather blatant hints that something's up and think that I'll just give it to them. It's more of a problem when I'm a player. But yeah, "optimized" players tend to think they're invincible, so they stop using their brains. no strategy in the combat, no investigation or meaningful interaction outside of it. Anybody who always "optimizes" is a shit player, without exception. #9932 -

| I am, but I hate being a Game Master. I much prefer being a player, and I still hate powergaming munchkin faggots as one. Nothing is more annoying than making a character the way my character should be built, integrating it into the game world and getting into it to have a good time, only to be left in the dust because everyone else "optimizes" #9927 -
