It is a nice change to see someone who doesn't just blindly beat it into the dirt, thank you. Though you're not entirely wrong, my point was just an assumption. It would've eaten me up inside to just let that point go because I got the inkling that this would just lead people to use it more. | I wasn't lumping anyone anywhere, I established the group I was referring to, and then made my comment. Besides, you're still ignoring the next part of it. "If you have reasons for why it was to be unequal, then fucking say that." He HAD to go with the "life isn't fair" lesson? If his daugter, at that age, is too ignorant to understand a lesson of "they ran out of *thing*" then her not getting *thing* is the least of her problems. #87 -
justakewldewd (04/29/2014) [-] To be fair, he probably didn't go straight to the life lesson while explaining to the daughter that they'd run out of whatever sugar wafer had payed to be in the show; that'd just be bad writing and would be getting into 'infomercial' territory. I have to agree on your last point though, she looks to be around twelve or so. You're right on the money that she's a bit too old to not understand the whole concept of finite resources. Then again, there's a hell of a lot of adults who start frikin riots for the same reason so the lesson may have been more for the audience than for character development. This may break the internet, but on the grounds of dignity and humility I have to say it. I jumped the gun and spoke wrongly without checking to verify what you felt on the matter was what I thought you said. My bad. ...I know I put the unpopular opinion puffin, but typically people lose their shit whenever I say something slightly negative with some tangential relevance to Lois C.K. justakewldewd (04/29/2014) [-] And I believe that we would be in agreement when I say that people like that are generally assholes. In the context of the show, I believe they had just run out of what the little girl wanted (a cookie or something) and he wasn't willfully holding back something she desired just to teach a lesson. The way your post was framed (not willfully, I imagine) it sounded like you were lumping in people who have to make choices that inconvenience one group or another for the sake of survival and the people to force terrible circumstances on people just for shiggles. I'm assuming that was not your intention, considering the calm way you're expressing yourself now despite my admittedly fiery temperament in the previous post? I wasn't lumping anyone anywhere, I established the group I was referring to, and then made my comment. Besides, you're still ignoring the next part of it. "If you have reasons for why it was to be unequal, then fucking say that." He HAD to go with the "life isn't fair" lesson?
