Having a crash with seatbelts is most times more dangerous than without one. The belt could cut your troat and you can't leave a burning vehicle when you were your belt.

And during the initial crash, since you weren't wearing your seat belt, you end up smashing your head open or breaking your neck because you can't keep your body from flying around.
