Yeah. The catcher market for this off-season is very weak. I'd resign him too, but not for as much as he'll probably ask. He thinks he's worth much more than he really is. Hamilton is such a coin flip though. Injuries kill him and you're right, he's not exactly young.

Nap seems to ALWAYS come out of his slump against the Angels. Lol. The problem is, he's a slump hitter. He had ONE good season and it was last season. Look at his numbers from previous seasons and this season and you'll see they relate pretty well to just who he is as a hitter and him being over 30 doesn't show a good sign of him being any better than what he's been this season. He has long ridiculous slumps and is defense isn't spectacular to where he'd be worth keeping really. Although I miss the pop in his bat compared to the Angels current catchers, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Rangers don't even resign him after this season.

Well, for most teams dropping that much on a rookie would be insane, but i guess Nolan Ryans got a good eye for pitchers, and he has confidence in darvish. So i think we should give him more time.
#166 - juckinfunk (07/21/2012) [-]
Well, I'm all for him having a successful career. I love Nolan Ryan, he's my all time favorite player. I have an autographed ball from his second no hitter. I'd imagine he can see a good pitcher, but he's the owner, not the scout. I know he's involved in the program but I doubt he is that much. Even if Darvish does pitch for my team's rival, I have grown to like the guy and do wish him a successful career. But based on how he has been preforming and how he pitched in Japan and how he compares to most from Japan who have come over. I'd say I'm pretty dead on in my analysis of him. When I said mistake, I just meant the amount of money dropped on him and for how long based on zero MLB experience.

He's a rookie in the MLB. That's all. He pitched professionally in Japan already. Yes I know, he's 25 years old. But look at the majority of Japanese league pitchers coming to the MLB to pitch. Daisuke is a fine example, what happened to him? They generally fail because there isn't really anything all that special about them. They usually have a tricky delivery and that's it. Darvish started out pretty good this season, but once he started facing teams for the second time, he's been getting rocked. He's posting an almost 4 ERA and getting paid like an ace. How does the front office see that it's a good idea to drop 100mil+ on a guy that NEVER pitched in the MLB before? It's not that I dislike Darvish or anything. He seems like a great humble person with nothing but respect for his teammates and other teams but he doesn't have a ton of room for improvement. He has serious control issues and that's not something that generally gets better all that much over time. He'll be a solid number 2 or 3 guy in a rotation someday. But that's it.

Lol. You're whole team is pretty over rated. There is a reason we got rid of Napoli... Hamilton is a great player, but never seems to stay healthy long enough, kinsler is great defensively but is streaky with the bat and also injury prone, nelly cruz had a couple good seasons and that was it really, Andrus is a talented young player with a pretty good glove on him as well, possibly a future gold glover, Darvish was a HUGE expensive mistake, holland is developing still and should be a solid number 2 guy someday.

I'm glad you guys let C.J. go to sign Darvish for that ridiculous 100Mil+ contract. C.J. has been lights out for us =)

So you thumbed down just because I said the word 'meme'? Seems pretty shallow.
And how do you know that people who have created memes in the past didn't have that in mind? For example: I remember a picture where a guy created a meme by combining the Yao Ming face and Obama's 'not bad' face into one and called it 'Jizz in my Pants.' Whether that was his own OC or not I don't know. I'm just trying to show you that people do it all the time. And singling me out isn't gonna help you. So just enjoy the content. And don't thumb me down because I've got the balls to say what I want.
#82 - juckinfunk (07/21/2012) [-]
I have thumbed several down for attempting the same thing so don't assume I've singled you out and like i've said, I'm sure I'm just old school because you used to never be able to even mention the fact that you were trying to make a new meme without being thumbed to hell. As I look through the comments, only one other person has even brought it up besides me. It used to be every comment would have condemned you of such an act. I apologize that I'm failing to keep up with the times now, and I'm sorry if it seemed that I was trying to attack you, but I will still continue to thumb down anyone who mentions attempting to make a new meme or calls something a new meme.
