| Your logic is flawed here as Christianity in all its forms are a break off of Catholicism, it was the catholic church that created the bible as most know it today, there are many other books that didn't make the cut, the actual scriptures are countless and what you are reading as the bible is something a bunch of cardinals voted to put together, it stems mostly from the stories that were most often preached and thought in mass. #135

juckinfunk (09/04/2012) [-] If they wrote it, then why do they reject some of the core teachings that define Christianity? Like Jesus being savior. You think if they had wrote it, they would have fit it to their beliefs... They did not write it, they simply took books from the scriptures and put them together, there are many other books that did not make it past the vote to get into the bible. It is the same as Christianity and the old testament teachings, they are Jewish teachings not christian ones. #137

juckinfunk (09/04/2012) [-] Okay. And my statement was that the roman catholic church in its current form is not a Christian establishment. They reject Jesus as their savior and thank St. mary mother of Jesus for all their well being and good fortunes in life. Yet the very bible they teach from says the only way is to accept Jesus Christ as your savior. A Christian is someone who accepts the teachings of christ and accepts him as their savior. I'm not saying if you're a catholic you're not a christian. I'm saying the current Head Roman Catholic church is not a christian church because they reject the one thing you must accept to be christian. I understand this is opposite of what they say and what you've been taught. But look up the facts. The pope himself stated he owed his life to mary mother of jesus. Not JESUS. That's about as obvious as it gets The catholic belief is that Jesus saved us all from our sins, essentially saving us from damnation after death, in the catholic church it goes without saying that Jesus has saved us as he has helped to spare us from hell if we choose to follow him, Catholics do not need reminding of this fact as it comes as part of their faith, unlike other forms of Christianity they don't constantly abuse the name Jesus to justify their faith, they also worship Mary as she was the mother of god, the Trinity says that God Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one being, so in fact if anyone who believes in Catholicism even in fact blesses themselves they are praying to god, this in turn because of the Trinity means they a praying and worshiping Jesus. No matter what way you turn it in Catholicism the fact that you put your faith in god and accept god into your heart also means you are placing Jesus in your heart as they are one. Mary in the Catholic faith has appeared in countless visions and helped to turn people away from evil, this is why she is worshiped and the pope would claim she saved him. #143

juckinfunk (09/04/2012) [-] Just a small list of things the Bible strictly forbids and they clearly go against it. Which they claim to preach from. They break so many laws the Bible lays down. It's only pathetic to call them a Christian establishment. Sorry #141

juckinfunk (09/04/2012) [-] CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary is the mother of God. WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Mary is the mother of the earthly Jesus, not God. Jesus pre- existed from everlasting as God (see John 1:1). When he came to redeem mankind, he laid aside his glory and was made like unto sinful man so that he could take our punishment (Hebrew 2:9). God has no mother. He has lived from everlasting which means he had no beginning. CATHOLIC TRADITION - Purgatory, nuns, popes. WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - None of these is mentioned in the Bible. It is a sin to add to the Bible. CATHOLIC TRADITION - Venerating/worshipping images. Pope bows to statues of Mary, Catholics worship the eucharist and have statues/candles in their homes and churches. WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - It is idolatry to venerate images. We are not even supposed to make them. Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God... [Note: Exodus 20:4-5 is the second of the ten commandments found in Exodus 20. Roman Catholics often learn the ten commandments, not straight from the Bible but from another source like a poster or a workbook. juckinfunk (09/04/2012) [-] CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary never had other children after the Lord Jesus. She remained a perpetual virgin. WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - After Mary delivered our precious Lord Jesus Christ into the world, Joseph did know his wife. Joseph and Mary indeed had children together, plenty of them. They were the Lord's half brothers and sisters for their father was Joseph and mother was Mary. Matthew 1:24-25 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not TILL she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS. Matthew 13:55 Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? 13:56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? Mark 6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary is the queen of heaven. WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Worshipping the queen of heaven (which is not the Mary of the Bible) is worshipping another god and it provokes the Lord to anger. Jeremiah 7:17 Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 7:18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger. 7:19 Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces? #139

juckinfunk (09/04/2012) [-] CATHOLIC TRADITION - Call priests father, e.g., Father McKinley. WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. CATHOLIC TRADITION - Forbidding the priesthood to marry. WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - 1) It is a doctrine of devils to forbid God's people to marry. 1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, GIVING HEED TO seducing spirits, and DOCTRINES OF DEVILS; 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 4:3 FORBIDDING TO MARRY, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 2) Peter was married (remember the pope is supposedly continuing the apostolic line through Peter). Matthew 8:14 And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. Mark 1:30 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her. Luke 4:38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. 3) Paul, a great apostle, remained single; however he made it very clear that he could marry if he wanted to. 1 Corinthians 9:5 Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? | ||

juckinfunk (07/08/2012) [-] Where did I say you have to follow it word for word? Obviously churches have their differences, that is why there are so many different denominations. Catholics cannot be considered Christians based on certain beliefs that go against the Bible. Not because of some things don't follow. But because of some things they have created. Putting Mary before Jesus is indeed non-christian because Christianity is about JESUS. He is savior. When the pope says everything in his life is owed to The Virgin Mary. That is indeed putting her before Jesus. What am I missing here? What don't you quite see? Yes you're right, not all Churches follow the Bible dead on because of interpretation of certain scriptures. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Catholics do worship Mary, i should know i was one, until i actually read the bible. That doesn't make them not Christian, it just makes them hypocritical. And they don't worship Mary, they treat her as a saint. It is Christianity, it's just a particularly stupid breed of it. #119

juckinfunk (07/08/2012) [-] You're missing a key point here. Based on the Bible, the very Bible that they preach out of, they are indeed not Christians. They have Countless unbiblical traditions and in 1991 Pope Fatima he visited the Statue of Virgin Mary in Portugal and said that he owed everything he had and everything he was to the Virgin Mary, giving her credit for sparing his life when he was shot earlier in his reign. They do indeed put Mary before Jesus. Based on the teachings of Roman Catholicism and what the Bible has to say, they are indeed not Christian. I have a huge book on Roman doctrine and how it conflicts with the teachings of Christianity. I know my religions. I've studied them all. #126

juckinfunk (07/08/2012) [-] Here's the problem. I'm not saying Catholics are not Christians. If you believe Christ comes first you are. But the Roman Catholic Church is not a Christian church based on the Bible. The core of Christianity. I don't understand where the confusion is? They interpret Christianity based on things that are not in the Bible. Doesn't matter if they call themselves a Christian Church, the Bible says NO. Where am I confusing you? Your logic is flawed here as Christianity in all its forms are a break off of Catholicism, it was the catholic church that created the bible as most know it today, there are many other books that didn't make the cut, the actual scriptures are countless and what you are reading as the bible is something a bunch of cardinals voted to put together, it stems mostly from the stories that were most often preached and thought in mass. #135
-
juckinfunk (09/04/2012) [-] If they wrote it, then why do they reject some of the core teachings that define Christianity? Like Jesus being savior. You think if they had wrote it, they would have fit it to their beliefs... They did not write it, they simply took books from the scriptures and put them together, there are many other books that did not make it past the vote to get into the bible. It is the same as Christianity and the old testament teachings, they are Jewish teachings not christian ones. #137
-
juckinfunk (09/04/2012) [-] Okay. #143
-
juckinfunk (09/04/2012) [-] Just a small list of things the Bible strictly forbids and they clearly go against it.

This Roman Catholic "traditional way of enumerating the ten commandments" #140

juckinfunk (09/04/2012) [-] CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary never had other children after the Lord Jesus. #139

juckinfunk (07/08/2012) [-] Where did I say you have to follow it word for word? Obviously churches have their differences, that is why there are so many different denominations. Catholics cannot be considered Christians based on certain beliefs that go against the Bible. Not because of some things don't follow. But because of some things they have created. Putting Mary before Jesus is indeed non-christian because Christianity is about JESUS. He is savior. When the pope says everything in his life is owed to The Virgin Mary. That is indeed putting her before Jesus. What am I missing here? What don't you quite see? Yes you're right, not all Churches follow the Bible dead on because of interpretation of certain scriptures. I'm not saying they do. But Roman Catholicism goes AGAINST what the Bible teaches. Aren't you supposed to respect mother and father? Wasn't Mary Jesus' mother? They respect her, but they do not worship her. It is a religion about Jesus, to claim that it is focused on the Virgin Mary is absolutely incorrect. Perhaps there is greater focus than other denominations, but to suggest that they value her more than Jesus is wrong. Atleast not the head catholic church. They worship Mary mother of Jesus and have been known to have a cross with mary on it instead of Jesus. I know for a fact Roman Catholics are indeed not Christian. They may call themselves Christians but based on what the Bible says is considered to be a Chrstian, they are indeed not. They go against the Bible they claim to preach out of in so many areas it's ridiculous. Catholics don't "worship" Mary. They respect her like a saint or holy person. Please, PLEASE get your facts straight before you go spouting off shit. Hail Mary, full of grace. #119
