To be a little more constructive, Hemingway is only good for basic sentences, like captions on a BuzzFeed article or marketing slogans.

It tells you what sentences are hard to read, so academic papers are out. It also forces simpler alternatives on you, so creative writing is gone. Finally, it thinks adverbs are garbage and tells you point-blank to remove them, as if it were a writing god.

Unless you’re writing a book for toddlers, its use can be limited.
