The fuzz is about the mistreatment of non-religious people in certain countries.
Try becoming president of the US while openly being atheist. I dare you.
Atheists are according to polls seen as less reliable than pretty much any other group of people in certain areas.

Plus, a lot of people consider irrational beliefs to inherently be a negative thing, and that this kind of dogmatic and non-questioning thinking may lead to a lot of bad things.
