"Technically speaking, the climate zone right behind a turbine (or behind all the turbines on a wind farm) experiences what's called a "wind speed vacuum," or a "momentum deficit." In other words, the air slows down." (popsci)
the area behind the wind farm is less windy. the wind coming towards the wind farm is not lessened by the turbines. Please read your own links.

You might want to read that again. I don't think you comprehended it. I don't mean any offense by this.

i literally pulled the quote from the link, the link talks about the area behind the wind farm having less wind, and the temperature can increase or decrease due to the difference. the wind is slower after passing through the wind from. but the wind still exists, and more will always be available. making an argument like this is the same as saying that solar power is finite since the sun has a lifespan of a few billion years
#168 - kanyesfishsticks (07/21/2014) [-]
Sure, but if you think that is a contradiction to johrai's comment, then you are obviously misunderstanding either johrai's comment, or the source material.

BAM!

Wind slows, heat rises. Like I said, he doesn't articulate it well, but he has a point. On a local system, what he is referring to as "wind"(i.e. Kinetic energy), is in fact finite."

Yeah, but the point is: does the wind itself help create more wind (on a large scale) by rebalancing pressures? What does happen if we hinder the wind flow and raise temperatures (on a large scale)? It sounds stupid to me as well, but think big. I'm not sure I can predict what would happen.
#144 - notsureiffunny (07/21/2014) [-]
Then wouldn't growing trees hinder air flow also and as a result be bad for the environment
#129 - anonymous (07/21/2014) [-]
it's is the sun that make wind by heating up the air in som areas

I remember my physics teacher told me about this and anyone I tell it to tells me that I'm wrong. Mr Foley was never wrong.

Reminds me of the "internet is a series of tubes" thing. People take it out of context and poke fun, but he was talking about communication being held up in transit (particularly email not being forwarded by mail servers promptly), which can be problematic because a lot of internet protocols and expectations are built on assumptions of much smaller delays - ie something travelling through a tube.

Unfortunately, the problem isn't that these politicians can't express themselves. More often it's them failing to parrot back the explanation they've been given by advisers. We still need more engineers and scientists in government.

i understand that wind farms can increase heat, but that's not why i find this man as an idiot. I find him as an idiot because he thinks wind is finite.

actually it's an Australian bullet ant and what its did was sting the spider making it release pheromones for other ants to find as well as paralyzing it so they can tear it apart and eat it.

Jumping Jack Ants vs. Huntsman Spider | Monster Bug Wars Source says Jumping Jack Ant. Can't find anything named an Australian Bullet Ant, however there is the Australian Bull Ant and the Bullet Ant found in South America. Other than that you're spot on.
