It does to support them a little and possibly could help for more content, but I only do it for anime I like, and not the industry in general. You also have to be careful who you buy from if you want to support. Buying a Funimation Dual Audio DVD set for say, 25 dollars instead of buying it in Japan means the studio gets a much smaller cut. That's why they generally do not care about domestic sales. Their cut gets smaller and smaller and so to get some of their money back they raise the prices.

And even if I want to support them, like I said, the hobby is one of the most expensive out there. I'd absolutely love to own one of my favorite movie series on BD, but I can't because of this. www.amazon.com/Kara-Kyoukai-Kyokai-Blu-ray-Box/dp/B0040QE5NI

I'd love to watch airing shows, but I can't unless it's in awful quality or I torrent.

I understand what you mean, and I was saying why I don't.

Also explaining to you with crunchyroll you're really doing jackshit to support it. The only way to support it is to buy merchandise and DVDs/BDs, and that's way too expensive to keep it up as a hobby. I only pay for the shows I already liked to show my support to the studios that pump out what I enjoy to support them.
