Lol oh Funnyjunk. The stupidity you have shown me is what I've been preaching in the comments forum for months. You newfags are willing to thumb up anything without any regard for truth. You'll thumb anything not funny or some ridiculous "facts" content without knowing whether or not it's real. Anyways, I proved my point. Btw "Oh Admin" is original content. I took the original HTML code and changed it. I let you have the implication that it was the real Admin.

so you're saying the oppression of science throughout history, such as the catholic inquisition, would make no difference on how science advances? you take out religion and you take out thousands of years of 'critical thinkers' being forced to never pursue their scientific abilities and improve the world. instead, you've got a meathead general barking at a fleet of armed men to kill other people because they have a different God. You sir, are an arrogant, cynical, elitist snob.
#764 - xtheherox (10/28/2012) [-]
Hello Good sir just jumping into the conversation but here's a suggesting. The Scientific Revolution which brought about modern science was a result of people such as Galileo and Sir Francis Bacon using their "god given brain". That is a quote from Galileo, in terms they where trying to discover god's universe. Also the only repression that science received was from 16th century wounded, corrupted Catholic hierarchy because they thought it would hurt their power.
TL; DR Science and Religion are freinds. in the words of Albert Einstein " Man finds God behind every door that the science is able to open"

9/11 was orchestrated by a man in a cave in a third world country, it took ten years to find him, and the country is still reeling from it....
a calculated orbital drop of several EMP devices disguised as meteors during the next shower orchestrated by, say, Russia, North Korea, or China would devastate us.

I could go on for a while, but I not only don't have the time and imadethistopost did a good job at refuting your statement. Therefore, I'll leave you with one final thing.
The U.S. is engaged in a plethora of different missions. Missions that often have a serious impact on the world. However, they are kept classified for a reason. At the end of the day, we just can't be sure how many world threatening catastrophes could have been avoided due to our efforts.
Although, failures such as 9/11 are only so highly recognized because they are just that...failures.

a random plane jacking is easy, you don't tell anyone and you do it quickly.
a tactical electricomagneticempluse shower, that would cost trillions of dollars, to destroy a country that's importing all your goods because of some old history doesn't make sense, and would require a fuck load of people to maneuver everything, someone would tip someone off and america would go in and wreak their shit., ravage their cities, steal their resources, tear down the government, and just to top it off, fuck each and every surrounding country to show the world what happens when you have an opinion that differs from the american consensus.
#64 - thescatmanohone (10/28/2012) [-]
Don't get me wrong, I understand America's overzealous militarism, but imagine this, you work for the Pentagon, you get an anonymous call "there will be an EMP shower disguised by the meteor shower tonight orchestrated by the Koreans"
You're going to laugh and continue tapping phone lines that bring up trigger words, you won't pay it any attention until your computer and the whole building shut down. and the cost of the whole plan to drop a couple dozen EMPs would look like chump change compared to the immeasurable wealth and labor to be had here.
#67 - imadethistopost (10/28/2012) [-]
we put a kid in federal prison for writing a note to his school saying he was going to kill the president, as a joke.... but we won't look into a violent country threatening to tear down the electrical grids of our entire nation?
an furthermore, we have spies in every country we think is dangerous, we will never admit to it but any one who wants to maintain dominance will resort to using espionage.
#72 - thescatmanohone (10/28/2012) [-]
The government receives hundreds of threats a day, most sound just as crazy as an EMP shower by the Koreans, most are actually far more believable and even more likely.
The entire middle east has been dangerous since the first Gulf War, yet we were caught with our pants down on 9/11. on top of that Al Qaeda, formerly the Mujaheddin, !!!!were funded and armed by the U.S.!!!! you would think someone there would have called, no?
and there were several calls about 9/11, all were heard, recorded and documented, but it was deemed "unlikely" and ultimately ignored. Just as the Korean EMP shower would be.
#74 - imadethistopost (10/28/2012) [-]
yeah, i knew about the mujaheddin, we're funding several other groups right now, we probably will for the foreseeable future.
but let's assume for a moment that we do ignore all the calls, every bit of documents and all the phone calls emails and espionage... so we get hit, if we can't prevent it then it comes down to a national crisis class disaster, marshal law goes into effect major citites get troops marched into them, police and law enforcement set up check points patrols and the whole shebang, curfews go into effect, riots break out, society rebuilds at a city sized level, the world keeps turning, other countries would rush to our aid or attempt to invade war happens shit happens nothing can stop it.
to many variables, not enough data, no one could predict what would happen, we can't predict what will happen in a month right now, why panic?

hahahaha you act like everybody gives a shit about thumbs enough to actually have an account. Not only that, I don't even know your political agenda, nor do you know mine and to be quite honest I don't even give a shit about it. The fact that you're arrogant enough to assume you're "decimating" my ideals not only shows you're quick to assume you're inherently correct but that anybody who dislikes you only does so because you're somehow "destroying" them. That's awfully conceited and pathetic. I don't think you're a cunt because of your politics, I think you're a cunt because you're a self-righteous, pretentious douche who thinks his shit smells like roses. Quite clearly, you will always find a way to stroke your own ego with anything anyone says and always make the assumptions that make you feel best inside.
And I don't think you know what a leech is, because I've yet to take anything from you. I don't see how calling you an idiot is like sucking your blood. Maybe you're the one infatuated with sucking. So I'll leave you with this, go ahead and keep on sucking. All the self-righteousness will catch up with you in the end. You'll get what's coming to you one day, that is on the assumption that you act superior in real life too, but you're probably a coward who comes on the internet because nobody cares what you have to say.

I really can't help it, but you just keep making me laugh. You're repeated attempts to try to get some type of angry response is quite pathetic. Not only this, but you're so interested in what I have to say that you continue to go out of your boring life to check to see if I've replied. This type of attitude is so low that it needs someone like me to feed it.
You want to see me respond and you know it.
Unlike you, the only reason I even remembered someone such as yourself was because the notification bar popped up. I don't claim some type of superiority over the average person. However, there are just those few like yourself which aren't much to care for.
Absolutely love how I was able to conjure such a reaction due to my own ignorance of a simple painting. I must really be an interesting character huh lol?

and looking at your profile I can confirm this. Red thumb the anons all you want, you're still a self important douche who looks down his nose at others, despite not knowing basic information. What next, you're gonna ask who Einstein is and claim to be a physicist?
#157 - joemand (10/25/2012) [-]
Lol seems as though I've found quite the little stalker. I'll admit, not knowing the origin of this painting is a bit shameful, but nowhere near the extent to which you make it out to be.
People like you always seem to crack me up. Although you're an anonymous, I'm sure you will continuously check back here to see if I've replied. People as weak as you need people like myself to leach off. I bet you even bookmarked this.
#116 - mr skeltal (10/25/2012) [-]
If you like to consider yourself an intellectual but don't know one of history's most famous paintings by one of history's most famous artists, which should very well be common knowledge, then you're not an intellectual. You're a self important douche with an over inflated ego.
#99 - cartrman (10/25/2012) [-]
It's a Van Gogh painting on the car. The joke is a play on words, relating the pronunciations of "Van Gogh" and "van go"......i.e. That's a nice car, but where'd my van go(gogh)?
Incidentally, the pronunciation of Gogh referenced in this joke is incorrect. The correct pronunciation is pretty different.
