it was a new apple flavor variant of Mountain Dew that they were having people pick the name for. But after 4chan raided it they dropped the contest. I haven't heard anything else about it since. I doubt they would just drop the flavor entirely.

I'm actually on assistance right now because the store we were working at cut our hours back so far it was actually costing us (gas money) to go to work. The people who cry everyone just wants help obviously haven't been in a situation they needed it. Thank fuck it still exists or we'd literally be starving and possibly homeless instead of able to find employment somewhere else.

I went through a period where I actually really needed assistance because I lost my job and I couldn't get it because I don't have a baby and I wasn't working at least 20 hours a week.
But now I'm a babysitter and get paid $9.00 an hour and I'm happy with that.
But seeing people abusing it pisses me off.

i also don't understand the complaints about propositions to drug test people receiving government help. If tax money is being given to you, i want to be sure that you aren't spending it on drugs. if you are spending your own money on drugs, then you apparently have money to waste, and perhaps don't need the help. plus the fact that drugs are illegal and all (not including marijuana in some states)

Besides marijuana, most drugs can be flushed out of the system in less that a week because they are water soluble, you just sweat/pee it out. Pot is fat soluble, it takes longer to get rid of (but can still be gotten rid of quickly provided you're not a heavy user). As long as you know when you'll be tested, you can bypass the test and get right back on drugs. Also, those tests are expensive, and can have false positives. We do this in Florida, but it spends more money than it saves. I agree that if you have to be on welfare you shouldn't be spending money on non-necessities, however that is just one source of spending, they could be blowing their money on other things, even legal drugs like alcohol and cigarettes.
Instead of welfare checks, we should be funding programs that teach the lower class skills they can use to find a real job. But that aside, drug testings are a waste of money to me

well, those other drugs are also harder to get off of, so it wouldn't be so simple just to u and quit them, but i understand your point. i think in the long run it would save money, because then people on drugs wouldn't receive the money for an extended period of time.

statistically we won't. It's a law where I live in Florida, and in Tallahassee alone the net loss was 50,000 paying for drug testing, only about 2% failed. And that's as a new policy, not giving people much time to learn how to scam the system

The policy is not intended to save money at all, it's part of the useless war on crime. It would be much safer and economical efficient to incorporate and regulate drugs in the economy.

i knew the law was proposed, but i didn't know it was actually passed (i live in florida, too) i don't have cable, so i honestly don't know much about politics atm.

colbert report works too, but you have to do some more research afterwards to get the whole story. I guess it's that way with anything though

I agree. My son, me and my (disabled veteran) husband are on welfare but there needs to be regulation of some sort. Not a time frame, but drug testing and stricter rules that if not followed lead to harsher punishment.
I have a full time job and my husband collects veteran benefits but I have Juvenile Diabetes and no insurance and his knees are in real bad shape so the VA is paying for school. One day I hope to no longer need welfare, but am upset with the way some abuse it and make all of us look bad.

I don't know about drug testing, check out #55, but I wouldn't complain about stricter guidelines, as long as people that actually do need it because of a hardship get it. I really don't like to see good people tossed into the gutter like trash.

You're forgetting about independent sources and political action groups bro

"This ad is not endorsed by any candidate or candidate's committee." How often have you heard that? Gotta take those into account too.
