Well, I was watching that show "Monster inside me" yesterday, it brought up a lot of good facts about how germs and the natural word are becoming immune to our best efforts of keeping them at bay (I know this isn't a knew concept) And OPs post just made me think...what if? What if there were some biohazard released. Like that movie "Contagion". I don't think any amount of science or modern day will power will be enough to stop something like that.

governments would never resort to nuclear war, too much real-estate and permanently lost map space to even be a possibility. that's why thermobaric bombs are being used now. the whole reason that Russia made so many nukes was not to have stocks of them, but because they wanted to make a nuclear bomb with no fallout, they got relatively close, but nowhere near close enough to actually use in war, or even as a proper dirty bomb. so there you go.
