You madam are an idiot. Your analogy does not fall in the same situation. In your analogy I am making something do something that could kill it. The real situation is a slug is literally going into the salt on its own free will. Like legit crawling into a house and if it's stupid enough, going into the salt to die. The proper analogy would be if my retarded child was smart enough to live in society and then one day decided to walk in front of traffic. I would not be making my child do anything, as this man would not be making the slug do anything. You are just one those simpleminded people that think anytime humans even look at nature they are being inhumane and tampering with the natural order. Even if the dude threw a slug into salt, it doesn't matter. Slugs have a short life span and I probably can't even comprehend the number of them that die a day at mother natures mercy. And for the main point, its a fucking slug!

You know its not really torturing since the slug could easily just turn around and avoid the salt. If the slug decides to go into he salt it is not worth living. It would literally be like putting up a barbed wire wall and watching a dog walk into it for no reason and die.
#33 - jeej (06/28/2014) [-]
It is not the same thing. If your child was retarded, would you make it walk on a rope over a vulcano? If it falls in, it's not worth living, wue wue wue.
Here's the even shittier part, slugs aren't even retarded. They're just dumb as fuck, so to make them suffer for it is just.. quite inhumane in my opinion, but whatever. Whatever floats your goat.

You do know that slugs are not capable of such a complex thinking, right? All they do is pure instinct.
User avatar #30 - securityexplain (06/27/2014) [-]
You'll notice that "self-preservation" is instinct as well. The most important one, for that matter.

He's not saying that males are unable to control their lust. He's saying that subconsciously men are the "hunters" while women are the "hunted", and in most cases it's true. This isn't sexism, or bigotry, it's just basic science and a few years of societal change is not going to change your brain chemistry. Sure, we don't physically fight over women and buy them anymore from their fathers, but it's still in our genetic structure to try and find a mate.

Does that mean that men are unable to control their sexual urges? No. Does that mean it's wrong for girls to be sexual? No.

But what it is saying, which is evident in society, is that because the man is biologically a "hunter" in sexuality, it's an extremely difficult task to have many sexual partners, because just like animals doing mating calls, the man has to do many things to attract the female. However, in the females case, it's incredibly easy to have multiple partners. A majority of men would not say no to a girl offering sex, unless she is completely repulsive.
#74 - withstrangeraeons (06/23/2014) [-]
Girls reject guys based on attraction and compatibility. Guys also reject girls based on whether attraction and compatibility, but the fact that they'll reject someone doesn't seem to register as them being unrealistically picky, just having standards for what they want.
The idea that women should reject guys a lot more than the other way around is just a play on the view that men are the sex with a sex drive "sex with a sex drive" sounds like a hilariously bad hair metal song, doesn't it? , and women are indifferent to sex and use it for their own ends. We're not! Sex is awesome! I'm not saying that people haven't internalized these roles and play them out (we do), but I don't think, biologically, that it has to be this way.
User avatar #93 - isenseven (06/24/2014) [-]
You're right, and I even said that. Women are just as sexual as men are, but we're talking about strictly on a role-based and biologically based standard. Men in most species are the courters, and women are the courted. That doesn't mean that girls aren't able to do that, but it's just the way it is. Why's it that way? The patriarchy? No, it's our brain chemistry. I went to an arts highschool so I have a lot of female friends, and when you talk to them, most of them don't want to be the first to call or text a guy, or to ask a guy out, all the generic stuff you can think of. It's just the way it is for a very good reason.
#37 - anonymous (06/23/2014) [-]
dude....labeling them as hunter and hunted probably was a bad call.the courter and the courted would best describe it

Oh not nearly as many as others. For instance there are users such as funnyjunk.com/user/say/ who get a fuckton of mentions. Completely generic words as usernames get much, much more mentions a day than ones such as mine. I get 30-ish a day I think, and I check about twice a day so it's not a big deal to scroll through 15+ mentions to see the ones actually directed towards me

Not related to the story but the picture, I used to think that the harder and faster you jerked [Beavis and Butthead laugh] the steering wheel the faster you would go. I got it from watching cartoons and always sitting behind the driver's seat.
#26 - swiftshadow (06/15/2014) [-]
I used to think you had to turn the wheel back and forth like that to drive. Not correlating to speed but TV always did it. I learned other wise when I got my license.
#30 - jaked (06/15/2014) [-]
I learned different when my grampa let me 'drive' on his lap in a parking lot and we nearly smashed into a few cars.
#33 - swiftshadow (06/15/2014) [-]
between my dads attempt to teach me when he grabbed the wheel and I almost hit a car and my mom screaming at the top of her lungs as I tried driving, I can't do it. I get panicked when behind the wheel. I kind of want to learn how to ride a motorcycle. The thought of only being responsible for me and not an entire vehicle full of people makes me feel better.
#36 - jaked (06/15/2014) [-]
I dunno if that's a good idea man, motorcycles aren't for the faint of heart, shit's risky. I definitely recommend at least getting your license cause it's incredibly useful if you ever have to travel.
#40 - swiftshadow (06/15/2014) [-]
I have my beginners. I have it for the second time. I can't do the driving a car thing. I've never driven a motorcycle but I've ridden on one before. I don't know, but the thought of driving one doesn't bother me. The thought of driving a car makes me panic.
#42 - jaked (06/15/2014) [-]
Huh, I would've thought that you'd be scared of just any motor vehicles at that point. Well, I guess do what makes you most comfortable then.
