I just saw you on a post... Now my questions is, 03 or 11 series? Your answer will determine whether I consider you to be a bro, choose wisely.

03 or 11 series of what?
User avatar #11 to #10 - sonicg ONLINE (01/24/2015) [-]
Well, you have infantry in your username. So I'm assuming you're an infantryman, my question is Marines or Army?
User avatar #12 to #11 - jdrinfantry (01/24/2015) [-]
I'm not in the US army. I serve in the danish royal army.
User avatar #13 to #12 - sonicg ONLINE (01/24/2015) [-]
Ah, no **** ? We've had some of your guys down here in Fort Hood, Texas recently. Good on you though, bro.
User avatar #14 to #13 - jdrinfantry (01/24/2015) [-]
I heard that we had some national army guys there. Known as "HJV".
They're **** compared to us.
Are you army or marine yourself? I served with some marines in Afghanistan back in 2013, in helmand.

I'm US Army. I don't know if they were national or not, some had beards and they all wore their berets.
User avatar #16 to #15 - jdrinfantry (01/24/2015) [-]
Yeah in Denmark all soldiers wear berets. Black is infantry, green is POG and red is special forces.
How long have you been in the army?
User avatar #17 to #16 - sonicg ONLINE (01/24/2015) [-]
I've only been in about a year now. Don't quite remember what color their berets were though.

Hah, that's alright. Do you like it there? I ******* live and breathe for the military. I couldn't imagine a better job

In Fort Hood, I hate it here. I'd much rather be somewhere else in a real Infantry unit as opposed to a cavalry unit.

Hah, yeah I can understand that. But the infantry is tough though. I was surprised when I went from a loader on the Leopard 2 to infantry school.

We hit the reply limit on the comments, so I'm moving it to here.

On 22 October 2009, the assembly of the Church of Sweden (which is no longer the national church but whose assent was important for the new practice to work smoothly) voted strongly in favour of giving its blessing to same-sex marriages,[4] including the use of the term marriage. It is the first major church in Sweden to take this position on same-sex marriage.[19] Archbishop of Uppsala Anders Wejryd commented that he was pleased with the decision.[2] The second and third largest Christian denominations in the country, the Catholic Church and the Pentecostalist Movement of Sweden, commented that they were "disappointed" by the decision of the Church of Sweden.[20] The Muslim Association of Sweden had already stated that no imams will marry same-sex couples.[21]

Also, the Church of Sweden is no longer connected to the government in any way. Source: www.nytimes.com/1995/12/31/world/swedes-end-long-union-of-church-and-state.html

So you did make a mistake, and your argument is falling apart.

We hit the reply limit on the thread, so I'll continue here. Each of those spikes and dips represents about ten to forty thousand years. The larger ones represent changes of about 8 degrees, the smaller ones less than half of a degree. We have seen a rise of almost one degree in the last hundred years, and it's still accelerating. Even if you spread that chart to be kilometers long, the change we've seen would still be ******* vertical, whereas everything else would look more like sine waves.

I'm a third year Biochem major. I don't see how you having a job in marine engineering makes you any more knowledgeable than me about climate change.
User avatar #2 to #1 - jdrinfantry (09/27/2014) [-]
you can spread it out as much as you want. Fact is that it is soo hard to interpret climate readings, and simply looking at a 100 years of industrialization and claiming that its a trend is just wrong. We simply don't know yet. Also in the chart you can clearly see that there is no equilibrium.

I was just pointing out that my degree isn't about this conversation about climate change, its regarding my job as a ship officer.
#3 to #2 - mayoroftownsville ONLINE (09/27/2014) [-]
I don't know what you mean, because there is clearly an equilibrium. With the exception of the first million years or so, the extremes of every fluctuation are all within (+/-) 4 degrees of the same central point. Equilibrium is no net change, not no change at all.

Climate science is certainly complicated, but 97% of climatologists agree that global warming is caused by humans. If they were all just idiots, there would be much more disagreement. That leaves two options: either everything we know about climatology indicates that global warming is caused by humans, or there is a global conspiracy. Considering how many cilmatologists there are in the world, it would be extremely difficult to keep such a conspiracy going without leaks, and yet nothing of the sort has occurred.
User avatar #4 to #3 - jdrinfantry (09/27/2014) [-]
Look I dont disagree with you that we have an impact, I just really wont ever believe in doomsday prophecies. As I stated in my first comment I believe that pollution is dangerous on a local level (Like we see in china, where waste is not properly taken care of, or when we unintentionally wipe out endangered species)
But I've seen the wildlife of chernobyl where scientists said that it would be uninhabitable. Everytime we create a doomsday scenario, we're wrong.
#5 to #4 - mayoroftownsville ONLINE (09/27/2014) [-]
Could it be because when we predict a doomsday scenario, we act to avert it?

People are already affected by climate change. Thousands of people on islands in the Pacific and Indian oceans have been forced out of their homes due to rising sea levels. That's not to say that mainland folks aren't affected as well. I seriously doubt that people in Amsterdam, New Orleans, or Bangladesh are going to be able to keep on living in those places without taking serious prevention measures.
