tv series is a start...but usually they just end up being either cheesy or watered down....a movie would have the chances of being extremely bad or extremely good.

I highly recommend basically any episode after the initial highly-political episodes in the first few seasons. My fav episode is probably "1600 Candles".

The main issue, is that with the simpsons it seems they do all these futuristic storylines set in the future, its like they are leftover futurama ideas . Why not just age the show and bring it all forward instead of constantly ret - conning the show just so the generation gap is no longer there ( like instead of being born in the 80s they were now in the 90s etc, where they still would be 20 yo kids )
#115 - deckbox (09/04/2014) [-]
If the writing is there, don't want it half assed just to appease the fans like simpsons is atm, I mean family guy has been phoning it in for a good while too, The writing for American dad has at times been astounding, really compelling, but one of the key writers has left over creative differences, I guess one wanted the more FG toilet humour and whathaveyou, and other maybe wanted the more Archer/simpsons hybrid thing they had going

biggest crime is sacrificing Futurama to keep the simpsons cash cow going, Futurama is infinitely better , but also had its share of duff episodes. It had a conclusion of sorts which kinda results in the series endlessly looping.

They didn't sacrifice the futurama to keep the simpsons going. Fox cancelled it and it got picked up but got picked up by comedy central for two seasons. After the two seasons were done, comedy central decided not to renew it. Matt Groening specifically said he wanted to try and keep futurama going. It may not be the end.

there are worse ones, I felt it did a disservice to Grimes rather than add to the story. there are more worse ones yea.

And na not really I dont enjoy most eps after this sort of era ended, past decade or so has been a train wreck 80 % of the time with the social media mumbo jumbo and trying to keep up with the joneses like family guy and south park playing off of cultural fads etc, the show has gotten pretty bad but there are still the odd episodes that are decent, like Married to the Blob or A Totally Fun Thing That Bart Will Never Do Again, Just wish there was more episodes like those than this Celeb drivel
User avatar #94 - jaynsilentbob (09/04/2014) [-]
So then it's personally opinion of yours? So when you said theres few generally accepted worse episodes, you meant you think there are only a few worse episodes because i haven't seen it listed on any of the worst episode lists. I still don't get that if you don't like it then don't watch it. I just find it hard to believe you'd watch something you think is bad? That's what I did with family guy. I honestly think most people are saying the latest episodes of the simpsons are shit because people who don't even watch say its shit. I've heard so many people say 'the simpsons is so shit now' and they haven't even seen any episodes past season 15. They're calling a whole decade of a show terrible without even seeing it. Personally i think there was a dip in quality around the 18-20's but i have to say in its most recent series the episodes have been good on average.

there are a few generally accepted worst episodes, such as the 2 skinners or the lady gaga one.

Eh I felt it wasn't that great, and prob the worst bob episode, the ending was unnecessary i felt, prob been worse eps since.

rest still applies ep desc etc
User avatar #72 - jaynsilentbob (09/04/2014) [-]
I don't care if you don't like it, what i don't like is the way you call episodes shit and that only like 5 episodes past season 12 are good as if it's fact. Yet you still obviously watch it so surely they can't be as bad as you say otherwise why watch it? Also your points seem rather arbitrary. I just looked up a few lists of the worst simpsons episodes and i didn't see it on a single one.
