While that's very true, you don't HAVE to buy anything... but it's nice to at least have a drink with you or something. Especially for really long 3 hour movies. Even their bottled water (heaven forbid they carry it in most of them) is around 3 dollars for something I either A) bought at the corner store for a dollar, or B) got for 'free' from the tap into a sports bottle. It really is just ridiculous.

Still, it's not exactly hard sneaking in your own stuff. I remember my friend hid a party bag of chocolate bars in his trouser leg. I hid a big bag of crisps in my hood, plus you can easily sneak a can of drink in a coat pocket

Yes, most american theaters make their money in concessions, so they don't allow you to bring your own foods in. I mean... it doesn't stop us from using our damned heads since they don't check your pockets or coats. I stopped going after popcorn and a small soda began to scale up to the price of a ticket, which is already skyrocketing. It's just easier to curl up at home with the laptop these days.

Or you know, don't buy any food? I don't understand why people feel obligated to eat food when they go to the cinema. Our cinema also makes its money off concessions, i think they all do. I remember you weren't allowed to bring in food in the past but i was told by one of the managers that we got in trouble for doing that. Now it's ok to bring in your own food so long as its not hot. I work at Cinewolrd but i know it's the same for Odeon and Vue (3 biggest chains in the UK).
