Acording to the U.S. census bureau in 2008 there were 21,469,780 tennagers in America between the ages of fifteen and nineteen. I'd guess half of them have had sex. %5 of ten million is 500,000. That means according to your %5 failure rate 500,000 teens get pregnant when they lose their virginity. Those who get it on repeatedly would just add to those numbers. They only need what, 10 pregnant teenagers for a show?

Between two adults it would be easy to discern that one of them was deaf. However, between an adult and a deaf child it is far more difficult. If you were a parent your child wouldn't even begin to start talking until they were about 2-3 years old. Furthermore, the child doesn't know that it can't hear well(that's how they were born afterall) and if the child reacts to sounds even if they're loud an adult can only assume that it's a baby and it's still slow but it can definitely hear.

Yeah, I just realized I might've fudged the story a bit. I could hear things, they just sounded as though they were all deeeep underwater. So, I would listen to my parents sometimes, but only if it was for me to follow them. Anything specific, and I couldn't do it.

Oh, okay. That makes sense. It would be incredibly hard to not notice a child being completely deaf, but mostly deaf I could understand.
