I'm not going to support the reduction of evil for a different kind of evil.

Give me the right of association and I'll be behind your ability to get married.

You sound like such a fucking baby.

"Some gay people got mad at businesses that were intolerant of their lifestyle, so I don't want any gay person to be viewed equally under the law."

You sound like such a fucking totalitarian control freak.

"Some people don't like other people, so I think they should have a gun put against their head and be forced to do business with the people they don't like."
#78 - anon (09/08/2014) [-]
That's not what I'm talking about. It's that you're supporting restriction on the rights of a large group based on the actions of a small number of it's members. The two problems should be completely separate issues

Except they're not. The right of association goes both ways. Gays should have the right to associate with whomever they want and disassociate themselves with whomever they want. If a business has an unfavorable practice towards gays, gays shouldn't be forced to shop there. Similarly, business owners should have the right to associate with whomever they want and disassociate themselves with whomever they wan. If a business owner doesn't want to do business with gays, they shouldn't be forced to.

It's called "equality." Look into it.

What the fuck does any of that have to do with letting them get married

What does the right of association have to do with marriage?

What does a gay couple suing a bakery have to do with allowing gay marriage

One follows the other. Gay people can't put a gun to a bakers head and say "bake me a cake for my gay marriage" if they can't get married.

If we can both agree on the right of association, then we both go home happy. If you're not going to agree to my thing, I'm not going to agree with your thing. You want freedom to marry another person of the same sex, I want the freedom for other people to not be forced into participating in your marriage. Let's meet half way, get the freedom of association and everyone is better off.

Yeah I meant to say you spell it litre and not liter, but many of you do actually spell it liter.

(not "many" as in "most" just as in like a good portion of the population)

I was talking about the spelling. Brits who spell it 'liter' are brits who don't know how to spell the word. Just because they are ignorant doesn't mean they're right. So I refer to my original question... is the guy English or American?
User avatar
#175 - capslockrage (04/09/2014) [-]
if you go off his spelling of liter then he is American.

If you go by the fact he said 'aluminium' then he's English. What part of this are you not understanding? Would you like me to break down my question further? I teach kids, I can put it in terms that my class of 5 year olds would understand if you'd like...

"aluminum" isn't a British word, that is used in America just as it's used in Europe.

Clearly you're not too bright yourself.
