It's likely that most people never played Pepsiman because it was only released in Japan. I played it on my emulator though, and actually managed to beat it. That last level is a dick biter though.

The flood of red thumbs indicates strong discontent over your statement. The thumbs themselves mean nothing, but they represent people's outlook on your comment. Knowing that your shitty statements aren't well received by real, breathing people might help influence you to make better decisions in the future.

It's a useless comparison. H1N1 is a simple and well understood virus, cancer is mutations of our own cells in many complex ways. There are a number of stages of mutations cells need to undergo before they can grow out of control, not all of them are present in every individual tumour, even of the same type of cancer. And because these cells are mutated human cells, how do you target them without targeting healthy cells? The answer is, currently you can't do that adequately, hence chemo side effects. If you're interested in knowing more, read on the subject. Don't just assume cancer is a simple disease and scientists are greedy evil motherfuckers!

For H1N1 all we needed to do was create a vaccine for the protein coat on a piece of DNA.

First of all, I fail to see how I've been especially uncivil.

Second, I agree that a cure for a cancer would most likely be complex and extensive. Just telling the public you have it would not allow them to use it. You can only sell something if the customers know you have it.

I have entertained the thought. you're not the first person to ever come up with the idea. I have entertained it and arrived at the conclusion that it's bulllshit. I completely agree that a cure for cancer would be very valuable, but not if nobody knew you had it. Then it wouldn't do you any good. There is no advantage to keeping it secret.

On a side note, I find it unfair that you criticized me for thumbing you down because i disagree with you, and at the same time you thumbed me down for, I assume, the same reason.
User avatar #66 - jameshill (07/07/2013) [-]
on your second thought first. 1 i do not thumb people down because i disagree with them nor because i dislike them. when you are going to be a ass yes, i will think thumb you down. (i only thumbed you down because you thumbed me down) But heres where i disagree with, if there was a cure it would be in your best interests to keep it a secret. This being because like you said earlier it would be very valuable, but the reason is so it could profited off of. The cure for cancer could be very extensive, time consuming and expensive. If that being the case why release it to the public? it wouldnt make sense to me, it would make more sense for the government to profit off it by using it only what i guess you could call the "important" folks. and im not saying my opinion is the be all end all, its just my opinion leave it or take it. Disagree with me you may, but don't be an ass and bash on my opinions have civil argument and validly discuss your dispute or in this case your rebutle

You really don't seem to get it, though. We've known the structure of DNA for about 60 years, and you think it's implausible that in that time we haven't unlocked all the secrets of cell biology?
User avatar #40 - derpwolf (07/07/2013) [-]
Well, it's probably easier to create something. Think of it like a wooden block, I guess. You have a wooden block. Then you lose it. So you go out and get a carpenter to make you a new one. It's easier to re-make something than to cut something out and keep it stable enough for it to match the original.

=[ Now I feel bad for thumbing you down. Have a thumb-up. Also, remember that the polio vaccine was free.

You're a moron. We cured H1-N1 because we had already encountered similar viruses, and it was only one virus. One vaccine stopped it, Cancer doesn't work that way. There are hundreds of types of Cancers and they work different than viruses, as they mutate the cells, not infect them. Besides that, Cancer is almost impossible to be immune to, you can only treat it early as prevention.
User avatar #95 - jameshill (07/08/2013) [-]
I find it funny that you most likely logged out to make this comment. BUT as you can see never did i say cancer was anything similar to cancer i was using it only as a comparison. Yes H1-N1 was similiar to what we had dealt with in the past because it was the same as the common cold. I'm not a moron i know they are two different things entirely but i was only comparing them because we had this giant outbreak of the H1-N1 and there was mass paranoia, but we managed to find a cure for it in absolutely no time at all
User avatar #143 - fgtometer (07/08/2013) [-]

What the hell? You really think that people who dedicate their lives to cancer research would supress a cure? Of course, first of all, "cancer" is not one disease. It's a classification for diseases where diseased cells grow out of control. Second of all, I am honestly fuming from the sheer ignorance and depressing cynicism required to think that a cure for any cancer would be withheld.
User avatar #55 - jameshill (07/07/2013) [-]

You my friend are a very ignorant to not even ponder the thought that yes maybe it has been found and just something i want to point out quickly cancer is not a disease its a symptom keep reading the comment bud :p BUT yes i do, if the cure for cancer does exist do you have any idea how much that would be worth, not even the that the power that goes with that. and on a second note, dood seriously think about it we have a population crisis right now. The planet has 2 times the amount of people it could sustain, so who knows maybe they are keeping it from us, but i think you need to chill just entertain the thought for a bit it'll make you think
User avatar #58 - maskedhippo (07/07/2013) [-]

I don't mean to get all "conspiracy theorist" but when you boil it down, the cure for cancer is probably being withheld by people within the government. The only people who gain anything from the deaths of people with cancer are politicians.

Cancer isn't a disease, it's a symptom. Cancer is the out of control growth of cells. You have it because your DNA itself breaks, and the self-replication command never turns off. It's not that you're "infected" with cancer, and it's why you can't get cancer from cancer patients. It has everything to do with your own DNA. There are a lot of genetic diseases that still can't be cured right now. H1-N1 was a virus, so it re-wrote existing DNA. It's easier to treat for viruses because you prepare a body for it ahead of time, so it already knows not to take in the foreign invader.
User avatar #38 - jameshill (07/07/2013) [-]
i never said cancer was a disease, and not to sound like a prune but i know what cancer is. now my whole point was that cancer has been around forever, we all have cancer cells dormant in the body. In a simplified version of saying it, cancer is growth or multiplication of cells that doesn't stop IE. a tumor but yes cancer can be more than just that. BUT my whole point was that we have been funding cancer research for years and you're going to tell me we havent found the cure for this? for christ sakes we've come to the point where we can make prosthetic freaking limbs EVEN ORGANS. so thumb me down if you will but just putting my opinion out there
User avatar #145 - fgtometer (07/08/2013) [-]

I wouldn't doubt H1N1 was caused rather than just showed up. Everyone was at the brink of rioting over gas prices, then all of a sudden there's this scary new disease out! So everyone be afraid and stop thinking about the gas prices!

I see it happen all the time. Every so often when everyone is just about up to here with the government's crap a new terror causing event shows up so the majority of the population begs them for a false sense of safety.
