Thanks, most people on here completely abhor opinions, it's refreshing to see someone who doesn't.

I do agree with you on that one, most of them are just trying to give children excuses to give others on why they are not "socially acceptable". The one I had to see was personally one of the brightest women I'd ever met. I believed her completely, she's why I'm studying to become a psychologist.

I'm very glad to hear about your friend, we can only wish the best for people and those situations and make an attempt to help.

Not trying to be a dick here, but assuming his dad actually did abuse him if he goes to a school anything like the ones I went to whenever they saw an injury on you, you'd have to go to a social worker. They'd make you talk to her while she told you all the shit that's "wrong" with you.

Sorry if tl;dr, just wanted to explain.

No need to feel like a dick, you were just putting your input and that's what threads are all about :)
Social workers seems kinda broad though. A lot of them aren't qualified to really tell you anything beyond letting you vent and forwarding certain worried to the authorities. Especially those workers tied to schools. I went to public schools my whole life and seeing bruises and small cuts on kids' faces wasn't too rare, so I think most teachers just overlooked them. I had a really good friend who was constantly abused by his alcoholic dad and he turned out to be a great man now (my friend; his dad is still an alcoholic).
