Personally I still prefer GKMC, I feel like the songs on GKMC stand on their own better than TPAB.
I do love the feel of the album though, and it's message.
Although I do need to listen to it a bit more still. I haven't had a chance to really listen to some of the later songs.

Really love Wesley's Theory; I wish FlyLo did more production on the album.

Yeah I think GKMC songs stood better on their own because they were thoughtful songs with good lyrics/meanings disguised__ as bangers and drinking/party songs (fitting, of course, into GKMC's theme of peer pressure and lying to oneself).
That's why it reached such a huge audience and everyone could enjoy it whether they wanted a message or just head bobbing escapism.

It grew his fanbase to ludicrous amounts and the mere fact that Kendrick has everybody listening to a non-banger album like TPAB is nothing short of astonishing

I'm with you. The whole like black empowerment and culture aspect is great but it's lacking the uniqueness. Lyrically it's fine, not outstanding, but fine and when I think about section 80 with Keisha's song and High Power as just a couple of examples, those were heavy tracks that made you want to turn it up and rap along. The only track like that on TPAB is 'Blacker the Berry' which is a REALLY good song and reminds me of his verse on Control.
