He was, but he did suffer at the hands of the Marauders at school. That kind of bullying and harassment can make kids snap and do something like lash out physically, or can lead to school shootings (if you're in America). Now think about what that person could do if they had a wand, the dark arts would look good for getting back at them and from there it's a slippery slope. Plus we don't really know what Snape's home life was like.

I'm not denying that, but I'm just pointing out that its feasible for normal uniforms to learn in a quite reasonable amount of time while still doing their normal jobs. Unlike other routines such as rifle spinning.

Except that wouldn't work because when they're doing curves in synchronization, the outside motorbike needs to be moving considerably faster than the inside ones.

Hmm, you're 100% right, but that just means they need to pay close attention to the spedometer, its still not that hard with a grid.

the size of the round, and lack of aerodynamic features of any kind, means it loses speed (and thus force) very quickly. these were also often fired from un-rifled barrels (although, your propper big-game hunter, would have a custom rifled weapon) resulting in further loss of accuracy, and force, possible tumbling, although uncommon.

Add to all that, the elephant's skin is usually a MINIMUM of 1 inch thick, layered atop a skull, up to 6 inches thick, these rounds were very ineffective. they still worked, if you had enough of them and the skill/balls to hit just the right spots, on a charging 25 tonne animal.

you'd be lucky if a .500, .600 or even .700 NE round even penetrated an African Bull Elephant's skull. by modern standards, these rounds are effectively useless.

#34 - newall (10/02/2013) [-]
the actual slug weighs a huge amount, it's aerodynamic properties are almost non-existant, and it's so blunt-tipped, you'd be lucky if it went though a hippo's hide (which is actually fairly difficult, to be fair)

the concussive force, at a VERY close range, would be impresive, but the forward section of a bull elephant's skull is increadibly thick. a modern Anti-materiel rifle would do far more damage, with a much smaller, more manageable projectile.

Penetration > round size. that's why we don't use .45 rifles anymore.

#35 - jackassalope (10/02/2013) [-]
I actually knew all that, but the site is called funnyjunk. Also, rounds don't really decrease in force at any kind of reasonable range. There is some loss due to air friction, but you also gain energy from gravity. With the aerodynamics of the .700 NE, I guess you could've meant accuracy, but the slug weighs so much it shouldn't be that bad.

this is true, but if the amount of body fat goes down, then what sometimes happens is a missed period.
User avatar #71 - ButtonFly (10/02/2013) [-]
Actually, your period will stop if your body can no longer withstand carrying a child. It's incredibly unhealthy and typically a sign that you lost a lot of weight but it can happen.
