OK, I've had M-Audio BX8a's for the past 5 years as studio monitors, and these look interesting. Do the Overnight Sensations have a flat frequency response/high accuracy, or are they just good for recreational listening?

i wouldn't mix with them, they definitely have a colored sound. Paul tunes his crossovers for listening pleasure rather than perfect flat response. See graph- these are actually very good given the low cost of the drivers. I dont know what your speakers sound like so i cant compare. they Overnight sensations make great desk or bedroom/small HT speakers. they jsut wont get loud enough to fill a big living room. the overnight sensation MTM's might, or i would go up to Paul's Swope series.
Kit with all you need- you will need wood glue, clamps, and a soldering iron.

ive also made his Classix II's, made them from scratch, $200 for the pair once painted and whatnot.

I find that good DIY speaker designs are similar to comercial designs that cost 3-5 times more money.

the good stuff is Troels gravesen's designs but they are much more spendy. (PIC)

Emotiva audio equipment is about the best bang for the buck i've found; american company, chinese made, all good, would not hesitate on any of their products

Bose is overpriced, yes. But their products are definitely not crap.

ill give you that one, the noise canceling headphones are about the best, the home theater stuff is crap

im listening with DIY overnight sensations, through Aune usb dac and Dayton DTA-100 amp, this is my work desk setup (pic), at home i have diy Troels gravesen designed 3 way classics through a Benchmark Media DAC1 Pre, Emotiva XPA-2, Boozehound labs phono pre, and a pioneed PL-540 with ortofon blue cartrige. AKG-K701 headphones.

Bose uses booste mids to trick people who are used to listening to lots of bass and treble that theirs is different and better. when in truth they have non flat response curves and poor imaging.

But sound is all taste and by all means buy what sounds good to you.
