 Personally, I think they're pretty much fine. They're usually worn by people who actually have a reason to, such as a lifeguard at a waterpark or something. I watched a guy at my county fair wrestle alligators while wearing them. The only thing I have a problem with is people who wear socks with them, since that negates the purpose of them. I think a lot of people hate them just because they look really childish. #52 -

 Actually a lot of those mods have a very low demand on you're pc and only change a few game settings.The ones that add more npcs and add battles do requires a stronger processor but nothing extreme. Post you're specs on the nexus forums and ask for advice from them about which mods you can run. There are mods that reduce the load on you're pc or improve the way you're pc runs the overall game. Lots of little tricks to improve performance and reduce crashes.. One of my favorites is HiAlgo, basically it reduces the resolution when you don't need it...you'll never notice the difference but its a huge boost to performance. There's also mods that reduce the number of clutter you're computer has to process and render, clean up game cells, etc. People don't seem to know they can mod their game for performance rather than looks. As for the journal, that does sound about right, I haven't done a full playthrough in months so can't remember for sure. | ||

isuriand (07/14/2014) [-] The writing for the civil war is great but not so much how it was implemented, the story and premise are all there but the only signs of a civil war are to be seen in cities and a few vague mentions. The vanilla civil war leaves a lot for the imagination, mods change that and add various battles and make cities actually care about you're allegiances and make the war actually feel like a war. Now for Ulfric and the stormcloaks, I haven't played in a while but from what I recall after talking with virtually every npc in the game I've found that there is every possible reason to hate Ulfric. The ban on Talos worship was never enforced until Ulfric started pointing out that Talos was still being worshiped and the dominion thus had a reason to send those female amusement-systems in green into skyrim to enforce the treaty. Ulfric doesn't give two digestive end products about the people or fate of skyrim, he wants power. Ulfric is basically being used by the dominion, refer to the journal in the embassy about him for more information. Basically the he was captured then released because the Thalmor thought he would do exactly what he is doing. They want a reason to go to war and Ulfric is their door into doing it lawfully. Even if Ulfric was a decent guy who wanted his people to be free, he has some serious lack of foresight. He is loosing men left and right against the empire and he knows the Thalmor will attack as soon as he takes power and legalizes Talos worship. Whats his plan against the Thalmor? The whole intense bodyloveing empire couldn't beat them and he is having trouble against the empire half-assly trying to stop his revolt. TL:dr I like Talos, I hate the dominion, I don't have a strong love for the empire, but I also hate Ulfric because the intense bodyloveer has caused more problems for skyrim then even the dominion ever could and is likely going to get every man, woman and child in skyrim enslaved or killed. Hard to say, there are some interface mods that are absolutely essential as the vanilla UI looks like digestive end product. If I had to pick one mod and one mod only I would go with requiem, it adds a lot of content (items, npcs, places, and quests) and changes a lot of settings to make the game feel more realistic, revamps perks, smithing and enchanting, changes armor so iron protects like a piece of iron and dragonscale makes you feel like the untouchable god you are. #132 -
chocolatewhite (07/14/2014) [-] Thanks for the suggestion. I'd recommend the Live Another Life mod. I haven't played much but it's pretty cool how you can start anew with a absolutely new storyline. Also, you can choose to be a soldier on either side of the war. I haven't played this yet - just started as of posting - but I have a good vibe about it. That one is always on my list, anything that lets you skip that drawnout intro is welcomed. Overall I think when I was actively playing skyrim (haven't played in at least two months) I had about 60-70+ mods so choosing just one is tough, even when I tried to do a low load order playthrough by removing all but the essentials I still had something like 30 (hard decisions were made). Plus over a dozen programs, everything from troubleshooting to performance. After you roam around the nexus for a few weeks and watch the popular mods reviews I usually check out Gopher and Brodua. Gopher has some good modding tutorials amid his sea of playthroughs. finding good mods won't be a problem...the problem will be trying not to hoard them. I've got at least 60gigs worth of skyrim mods (not mentioning the fallout 3/NV) #120 -

A friend of mine who is an Elder Scrolls lore buff said that the Dominion was fixing on getting its collective digestive end product wrecked 'cause they were apparently gearing towards an invasion of Hammerfell, which is bad because Hammerfell having canons is a thing.  Not entirely true. The empire could have very well defeated the Thalmor. Have you read the ingame book "The Great War"? It outlines the thalmore capture of imperial city and how the empire took it back, utterly destroying the thalmor army. They we're poised to completely push them out of their territory and invade summerset isle. They gareed to the White-Gold Concordat because they we're tired of fighting. #32 -

They couldn't protect the provinces or Cyrodiil from Mankar Camoran and they served up Hammerfell to the Dominion on a platter, and the Redguards managed to defeat the Dominion all on their own, without the Empire's help. Independent Hammerfell/Skyrim alliance, anyone? The Empire also might SAY that they're only putting a small force against Ulfric, but I seriously doubt that. The ancient Romans did the exact same thing with Spartacus and he tore right through them, just like Ulfric did until Tullius, best general in the Empire, showed up. Besides, you'd think they'd send more men once Solitude itself was threatened? But they didn't, because they couldn't afford to. Don't forget that Ulfric held out against the Empire with only the support of the four poorest, weakest Holds there are and the Empire STILL couldn't beat him. Ulfric's still an backpassage, but I don't think the Empire will be much better. #31 -

 It's from the special where Jeremy and James drive to the North Pole while Richard takes a team of sled dogs. I don't remember the season, but it came out in 2007. Think it was actually called the Polar Special. Hope this helps. #23 -
