Your article is interesting, and provides good counterpoints, but it is written by a blogger, with some assistance from a Ph.D in psychology, not medicine.

Your article claims many of the 'myths', were only supported by one or a few studies done a long time ago, but in my research I saw many more than the one or two studies supporting circumcision. The AAP supports it as recently as 2012:

I wasn't saying it was a source of fact, it was a compilation of different ideas that are untrue.

By claiming they are untrue, it is presenting its claims as facts. Conflicting data doesn't outright discredit other findings, especially if the other findings are more numerous.

Don't talk to me like I am some sort of cripple, the nerves responsible for pleasure are just fine, and most importantly, under the skin. My penis isn't some desert because I have no foreskin. Unless you are telling me the foreskin also generates the moisture, then it is safe to assume, that the moisture is still there for me, and seeing as I don't leave my penis lying about in the air, it tends to actual remain moist. I can tell you from experience that more often than not the skin around my glans is pink, and not at all damaged.

And don't say my things, my points are either experience, or supported by research.
User avatar #240 - isenseven (06/17/2014) [-]
The foreskin does actually produce a small amount of moisture, like I said it's like the inside of a vagina. It's like holding your tongue outside your mouth for a minute or two, gets pretty dry doesn't it?

I didn't mean to make you sound like some sort of cripple, but it's essentially turning an internal organ into an external organ. The tissue inside your mouth (and other openings) is far more sensitive than your skin tissue.

Also the studies supporting the reduction to STI's are outdated. I assume you're an American, thus the reason for your circumcision was said to be for "health reasons" but is actually 100% tradition. More recent studies have proven that there is no significant health reason to get circumcised.

Here's a compilation of all the things you were probably told: www.psychologytoday.com/blog/moral-landscapes/201109/more-circumcision-myths-you-may-believe-hygiene-and-stds

Yeah, but how many admit to not being strong enough to deal with losing what they love?

That was the point being made in the post.

If you take into account the comics that so many movies are based off of, all the time. I think the point that thetinkertoyboy was trying to make was that this was in a movie, a medium that reaches far more audience than comics. Not to mention it was a movie that Disney had a hand in making, a company notorious for shallow characters and enforcing gender roles in the young, impressionable minds of kids.

This is a scene that they knew children were going to see. When the big strong man who's supposed to protect everything and be invulnerable lets on that he's anything but. It's a genuinely human moment.

I know what i'm talking about, because i've seen it happen, numerous times. Relationships work best when your significant other is essentially your best friend as well as your girlfriend/boyfriend. So, when you've already been good friends for awhile, it really helps that. Just because you haven't experienced it doesn't mean I don't know what i'm talking about or that it's a horrible idea. I have friends who have had that happen who have been dating for years and who I am willing to bet will get married in the end.
User avatar #303 - isenseven (06/09/2014) [-]
Your idea of "friend" is not the same as my idea of "friend" then. Cause I know people who have dated someone that they've known for a while. But my idea of a friend is someone who you hang out with because you enjoy their company, and have no physical attraction to them

I strongly disagree. I definitely believe that genuine friendships can become relationships. In fact, I believe those are the best of relationships. When you have known someone for a long time, years in fact, and you are already good friends with them, and then emotions come into play when they weren't ever before, it can work out really well.
User avatar #301 - isenseven (06/09/2014) [-]
It sounds like you don't know what you're talking about. I have never seen a relationship where close, actual friends last more than a month or two. I personally cannot imagine ever dating one of my female friends. They're my friends for one reason or another.

Well I agree and disagree. Yes, the best method is oftentimes to start off by letting them know your intentions. But many times it isnt. Some of the best relationships come from people who start off as friends, so they get to know each other beforehand to see if they are interested. However, that situation does lead to risking the friend zone, but that should be a risk you are conscious of.
User avatar #299 - isenseven (06/09/2014) [-]
No, genuine friendship has never lead to a relationship. The friendship you're thinking of is the flirty "will they won't they" friendship, where they aren't close enough to be considered close friends, but they are familiar with eachotehr.
