I saw an April Fools joke about that awhile ago, but I doubt it was legitimate. All I know is that they said word-for-word that "Matt Smith is leaving Doctor Who" which makes it sound like they intend on keeping the show going.

I actually prefer Eccleston over Tennant.
But I have nothing against Matt Smith, per se. Rather, I think the quality of the show's writing plummeted when he took over. I actually think he could make a very good Doctor if his episodes had been written with the same care the older series were.

I know what you mean actually. I think the show was much better with Eccelston or Tennant, Matt Smith is sort of "meh" but still somewhat enjoyable for me.
I'm actually a bit excited that he's leaving after the 50th anniversary episode, I'm hoping that the show comes back from the sort of rut that it's in.
