If you stream then there is none. I was talking about media players as in programs.

You're not going to find any on a streaming media player.

If you end up using a media player for torrents, DVDs, BDs, whatever, in the future, you can set the keys. So for example, on mine I have it set so that Shift + S instantly takes a screenshot and sends it to a specific folder.

For some reason it never lets me save it to a specific folder. It just puts it in my picture folder.

I'm pretty sure those are hardsubs, not soft subs, if that's confusing you.

For VLC there should be a setting in Preferences to set where images go to.

For MPC you just do a save image as, select location, and then any auto save images are done to that folder until you change it again.

Yeah, I go in preferences, have the folder set, but it never really works. I'll probably just close it again.
And I never paid attention to soft / hard subs, nor what they really meant.

So what I'm watching is a hard sub, right?
User avatar
#747014 - yusay (08/18/2013) [-]
Softsubs mean they're subs that play over the video. Hardsubs mean they are embedded into the video and can't be removed since they're now part of the video.

So what I'm watching is a hard sub. Which would probably explain the bad quality sub quality while using vlc, or is it because I'm watching something from '98?
#747018 - yusay (08/18/2013) [-]
A little of both. Probably most of it is just because it's old.

Here's a "newer" show but back before softsubs became more of the norm. You can kind of see how the subs are about the same quality as the video.
User avatar
#747022 - nippuhl (08/18/2013) [-]
So I take it hard subs are worse than soft subs? Or better? I'm kinda lost on this whole thing.
User avatar
#747025 - yusay (08/18/2013) [-]
Softsubs>Hardsubs

You can take softsubs off to take screenshots without them and they look better on the video.

Oddly enough, i just started watching this show from the beginning a couple days ago, I had no knowledge the final episodes were coming out the 18th. Anyway I was a bit confused with the final episode so I re-watched it and it made more sense. I didn't expect that ending exactly with their relationship only lasting for a short time before calling it off, but it fits as there was little to no way for it to work out. I will admit i'm a bit depressed by it though.

Any enjoyment I could have derived from watching this is now eliminated by knowing that it ends like this. I'd complain about spoilers if I wasn't glad that I won't have to waste any more time on it.

Don't worry, I already knew how it ended. I was just hoping against hope that it was a vast conspiracy to lie to me about the ending. Now I'm just upset with myself for thinking it could have a decent ending.
