what i do is i create a draft
if the client likes the draft they transfer the money over and i finish the piece
and its a matter of trust
i used to be a pay when im done artist
but people werent paying
then people would take the art and demand refund
so they get both the art and the money
so now i have a "if you commission me you are getting work by me in my style"
and if they really want a refund i have a 50% return, because time and materials cost

I can lead a relatively normal life unmedicated as well, although my motivation to socialize and my memory becomes crap. Although sometimes, it gets exceptionally bad. Regular suicidal thoughts, serious or not, are not normal to have, contrary to what I used to believe. When I'm medicated, I have none, as opposed to every day. So, no matter your current state, it could change, and it's better that someone with a medical background is making sure you don't get worse. I really have to stress seeing someone, because there might not be a later.
