Feel free to look up the study I mentioned (Published by American Journal of Public Health, I'm sure you'll be able to find it)
Also, I think its fairly obvious that firearms are much more dangerous than knives (or rolling pins)
The expression "bringing a knife to a gunfight" comes to mind.

That study is pointless and it doesn't mean anything. And stop acting so fucking smug to people.
Firearms are more dangerous than knives, but cars are FAR more dangerous than guns. Bombs are more dangerous than guns, MUSTARD GAS IS FAR MORE DANGEROUS THAN GUNS AND YOU CAN BUY THAT AT ANY GROCERY STORE.
Just because you can buy it, doesn't mean that you're going to kill with it. There are practical purposes to owning a gun. Hunting, enjoyment, protection and being able to protect your rights.
Guns aren't bad, the average person doesn't want to kill people. News and media has just drummed it into your head. Think about this, 11k people die from guns (not including suicide) every year in the US right? Sounds like a big scary number, but we have about 300 MILLION people living in the US. That's LESS THAN A .0001% of Americans who die to guns from homicide.
Even if you count in suicide rates of guns (20k or so people) its still less than .0001% of Americans. How is that something even worth fighting over? There are by various estimates anywhere from 270 million to 310 million guns in the United States — close to one firearm for every man, woman and child. But less than .0001% actually die from guns. How is that such a huge deal to you? Its all propaganda set up from the news to make guns look bad because they need ratings or sales on books or whatever.
Lets focus on REAL issues in the US.

Ok, so using studies for information is pointless (especially if they seem to correlate with the propaganda/conspiracy by the mass media), and the government shouldn't try to restrict/regulate things that are potentially dangerous, because other things are also dangerous.
You should hold a conference each year, with the friends and families of those 11k people that die each year, and explain to them that the lives that were lost weren't worth protecting, because there are so many more people still left. I'm sure they'd understand.
I can agree that owning a firearm for practical purposes (like hunting, or if you are a police officer) is a legitimate reason for owning a gun. "Enjoyment" is not a practical purpose.
You act as if the government is trying to ban gun ownership altogether, while in reality its goal is to increase regulation. Strict control over who gets to buy/sell guns decreases the chance that a gun becomes available to someone who shouldn't have guns.
The government is capable of focusing on more than one issue at once. Just because other issues are important to solve, doesn't mean this issue should just be ignored and forgotten.
Lastly, I am the one acting smug? Have you read your own posts?
Your posts are filled with derogatory remarks and ad hominem attacks, coupled smoothly together with straw man arguments.
Am I "acting smug" because I don't call people stupid when I argue with them, or because I don't type enough profanities in all caps?

While guns seem more dangerous than knives (one is designed to be a weapon, the other can be simply for buttering bread) both are capable of killing people rather easily. Sometimes the anti gun propaganda that is thrown about seems a little on the extreme side. Yes people get shot, because guns are available. But people get stabbed because knives are available. People get in fist fights because they have hands.
I'm getting a little distracted from my point. Possibly more regulation isn't needed so much as more education? Or keeping guns from gang members? Fuck knows, just relax a little. People are going to kill each other no matter what they've got access to.
