Rey was terrible, Finn however was a pretty good character. Seriously though, Rey being like "let go!!!" When Finn is trying to save her ass from imperial air strikes, bitch has probably never even seen a tie fighter before and she's refusing help from a guy she thinks is in the resistance cause she's an "independent woman who can take care of herself". Also when Han gives her a gun and she's like " I don't need this I can take care of myself! " and " you just point it and press the button " really I was hoping she would shoot herself in the foot.

Rey was a Feminist-pandering Mary Sue

I don't mind strong female leads when they're actually smart and know what they're doing. Rey had no idea what she was going up against, never flown the millennium falcon before nor used a blaster or light saber before. Yet she acts like she knows everything, she's easily my least favorite character in the movie.

The First Order was made out to look too much like comical space nazis.

I mean, yeah, the Galactic Empire was obviously inspired by real, historical fascist regimes.... but you could take the Empire seriously.
The First Order is a bit too.... comical. Too over the top.

Spoilers ahead, obviously

The Empire was stability in the Galaxy, and gave power to those who sought it out.
The First Order has potential to be like that, but they haven't given any real sign that they're anywhere near as clever.

Let's take the Death Stars, for instance. The Empire used it as a weapon for fear- by destroying Alderaan, they sent a message, a proper message. Align with the empire or else this will be your fate. It also sent the message that the Empire knew this world was rebellious. It showed their wrath and their mercy- if you side with the wrong side, you will die without resistance. However, by not immediately using it on all rebel planets/locations, they showed that they're willing to give people a chance to return to the proper side. Because, you know, the Empire is about stability and power.
The First Order used their super-sized-death-star to blow up a bunch of planets. I feel like this excess makes them seem too much like the bad guys- if you're a rebel, they'll destroy your planet and any nearby planet. There isn't really any chance to join the proper side. Also, they haven't really learned from the mistakes of the Empire at all- a planet sized weapon is just a bigger target.
The First Order is trying too hard to be dark, a trait which is found in Ren, as he desperately wants to be like Darth Vader.
The Empire was a chance to serve the Emperor. If you knew your place, you would live life well.
The First Order is an edgy child, desperate to show whatever small power it has.
